The Trump administration has concluded a six-week nationwide sweep of suspected gang members with 1,378 arrests the largest such gang sweep conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to date.
The operation, which ran from March 26 through May 6, targeted gang members and associates involved in transnational criminal activity, including drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, human smuggling, sex trafficking, murder and racketeering.
Gangs threaten the safety of our communities, not just in major metropolitan areas, but in our suburbs and rural areas, too, ICE Acting Director Thomas Homan said Thursday. Gang-related violence and criminal activity present an ongoing challenge for law enforcement everywhere.
According to ICE, of the 1,378 total arrested, 933 were U.S. citizens, and 1,095 were confirmed as gang members or affiliates. Also, 104 of those arrested were affiliated with the dreaded MS-13 gang, eight of whom illegally crossed the border as unaccompanied minors.
Our efforts to dismantle gangs are much more effective in areas where partnership with local law enforcement is strongest, Homan said.
During the operation, HSI partnered with other law enforcement agencies to seize more than 200 firearms, narcotics like cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl and marijuana and $491,763 in U.S. currency.
Enforcement actions occurred across the nation, but the greatest activity took place in the Houston, New York City, Atlanta and Newark, N.J., areas.

Six weeks and that comes to 230 criminals a week.
Law enforcement have an insanely difficult job to do. Finding all these criminal and picking them up all while continuing to police the public and safety is actually impressive.
ICE needs to step up the pace.
We need to be removing 5,000 a week.
They’re whereabouts were well known.
Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!
I can find them if ICE can’t, they are everywhere.
Deport them and they will be back next week. Either brand I I on their foreheads or take them swimming like Brazil does.
Headline slightly misleading. It should read, “ICE, along with local LE in 5 states, took 6 weeks to arrest 445 illegals - it is unknown how many were released with a pinky swear they’d show up for their hearing or may face deportation.”
This article says that 933 of them are US citizens.
Those 933 should be turned over to the new FBI Clandestine Gang Disposal Unit for the Disappearing.
WHY “CONCLUDED”?
This needs to keep up until every single member of a gang that is illegal is out of the USA.

A DUI driver was picked up earlier this week.....HE had been already DEPORTED 15 times!! FIFTEEN TIMES!!!
People-—get a grip...this is evidence that the country is under siege....
Do NOT for ony second think that YOUR car insurance & YOUR house insurance isn’t going up continuously because of their behavior.
Oh, my. There goes Jorge Busho’s and O’dummy’s legacy. They’ll be devastated!
Some judge somewhere will rule these sweeps unconstitutional and the thugs will be released.
“Deport them and they will be back next week. Either brand I I on their foreheads or take them swimming like Brazil does.”
Well, 993 of them are US citizens so they are not going to be deported or releasesd on their OR. I would just imagine that ALL of them are in detention today. And as much as the cost of incarceration pains me, they ALL need to be put away for a very long time. And furthermore, I think the days of “pleading down” these people to keep them out of jail is over.
Drop them off in Afganistan or Syria.
