USAA Faces Customer Backlash After Canceling Ads on Troop Supporting Sean Hannity
Gateway Pundit ^ | 5/25/17 | Kristinn Taylor

Posted on 05/25/2017 2:51:15 AM PDT by markomalley

USAA, an insurance, bank and financial services company that caters to active duty military, veterans and their families, is getting slammed by members after announcing on Twitter Wednesday night the company was withdrawing advertising on the Sean Hannity show in response to pressure from liberal activists trying to silence Hannity by cutting off his advertising base. It was not stated by USAA if they advertised on Hannity’s Fox News Channel show or his nationally syndicated radio show.

Hannity is a strong supporter of the military and veterans. He has a strong fan base among the military community.

The effort to drive Hannity off the air was promoted by Democratic Party front group Media Matters which posted a list of Hannity’s advertisers this week for liberals to complain to after Hannity pursued the unsolved 2016 murder of Democratic Party activist Seth Rich in Washington, D.C. and possible connections to Wikileaks.

As of early Thursday, seven companies have announced they are no longer advertising on Hannity’s show, according to Media Matters: Cars.com, Casper, Crowne Plaza, Leesa Sleep, Peloton, Ring.com and USAA.

A sample of the most common tweet from USAA on Hannity, “Thank you for reaching out to us. USAA advertises on news programs, but advertising on opinion shows is not in accordance with our policy.”

USAA posted a direct mention of Hannity in a reply to a poster claiming they are cancelling their accounts.

“You’ve ignored my messages USAA -all of my family’s banking and insurance is with you. We are an active duty family. We stand with Hannity…You reply to the left bots but not a member?! By Friday ALL of our stuff will be moved to Navy Fed and GEICO/ALL State/Nationwide, et al.”

USAA coldly replied, “We are no longer advertising in relation to Hannity. Thank you!”

Many others claiming to be USAA members chimed in to say they too were canceling their accounts with USAA.

GEICO came on one USAA thread to welcome potential new customers.

More accounts being closed, many after being with USAA for decades:

(snipped additional responses)

And Average Joe sums it up nicely, “How can a company who supports Vets who fought for our rights cave to silencing free speech. You ought to be ashamed”

(snip)

Hannity is scheduled to take a long Memorial Day weekend break starting Thursday. Will he have a show to return to next week? Will USAA have a customer base next week?

Thanks.

Do you have something similar for State Farm?

If so please post it and ping me.

Thanks,

I’d wager that none of the complaints came from USAA policy holders.

None were in the military in the first place to qualify for a policy.

Another left wing bot attack.

Very timely for us.

My wife has been pushing me to leave State Farm and to go to USAA.

People we know with USAA from retired Generals/admirals down to former enlisted people, have been very satisfied with how USAA has paid for minor damages to entire homes being burnt.

State farm seems to argue with any claim and you have to force them to go after other drivers, who hit your vehicle, caused damage with other insurance companies. God help you if the other driver is also with State Farm.

The local State Farm Reps used to come and visit to know you or invite you to their office. Now you are lucky if they have a competent asst., you can reach by phone, text or email.

Geico’s customer service does not come close to USAA, unfortunately..

Plus, it’s owned by Warren Buffet. Left them long ago.

A lot of Freepers, like me, are with USAA.

Until now I was happy with them.

I’ve already sent them my opinion. No reply.

All of our insurance and much of our banking is with them. It would be difficult and quite time consuming to move. Have not yet decided what my next step will be.

It partly depends on what USAA does as a result of the pressure they are now under. They have deeply offended me and much of their customer base, so perhaps they will wise up.

Why would they cave to liberal activists, none of whom watch his show?

This really is about free speech and not buckling to the liberal fascists. I wish I had USAA so I could drop it! As it is, I will be contacting Geico (they have my auto, property, and umbrella policies) and encouraging them to support free speech by extending advertising on Hannity.

With all due respect, I was a little surprised that you posted that you are not going to cancel but rather going to keep USAA on this thread...not particularly supportive or helpful.

May I ask what banking services do they offer that other banks and Credit Unions do not? I am sure their insurance rates are very low, but can their checking and interest rate be that much better than other credit unions?

BTW, the rest of us who are not able to have the “best on the planet” somehow survive...Just sayin.

Perhaps you could consider moving a portion of your investments/funds, etc. Those are fairly transportable and easier than moving bank accounts due to all that is linked to checking, etc.

Would send a message, and you could hint that banking functions are next if they don’t stop kowtowing to liberal fascists...

Im sorry, I dont. I personally only know two things about the insurance industry, Jack and ... well...you know the other thing.

I am presently struggling with homeowner issues myself and separately with auto. I could give my opinion on why a couple companies suck but, have no way to rate them myself as to who "the good one" might be should such a creature exist.

Believe it or not, "Progressive" actually returned the best score for insurance companies.

I left USAA - closed mutual funds, stock brokerage, savings, checking, auto insurance, and renters insurance after decided to ignore their members RE USAA spending $$$ to advertise with the NFL. The joy was explaining the same to each department why I was closing the accounts. One rep told me they had "A LOT" of cancellations - Anecdotally, I know personally about 6 other individuals who closed accounts.

Spoiled multimillionaires who get paid to play a game can voice their anti-American opinions and USAA will ignore their own members to shell big bucks to the NFL.....but woe to Hannity if he expresses any opinion.

Looks like USAA wants to double down on stupid.

Sold the stocks and now trade on Robin Hood (which is phone app based and FREE to use for trades with instant access to the money you transfer), and got a discount on my insurance needs at Liberty Mutual via Pen Fed (making LibMut cheaper than USAA). The LibMut rep noted I had USAA ins for over a decade and wanted to know why I switched....I told her PenFed advertised them and the why.

NavyFed has the best rates on share certificates [CDs] (3% for their "easy start" certificates) and many of their consumer credit products (7.9% for my credit card with them), though PenFed often competes pretty hard (8.9% on an AMEX with rewards points). NavyFed also reimburses ATM fees (like USAA).

I am bombarded with USAA virtue signaling TV ad with a biracial couple. Literally over and over every day. Must be based on my zip code or something. But undoubtably USAA another lefty leaning PC corporation.

You just have to watch USAA’s politically correct TV ads to know which way they lean. Hispanic vet, biracial couple, etc. They had a TV ad with a straight white cowboy dude but I haven’t seen it lately.

Ugh, it’s getting so all the companies have gone over to the dark side. Anybody know anything about Nationwide? We did business with them at one time, and they seemed OK. We went back to USAA after that and have been with them for 40 years.
We haven’t always had a good experience with USAA, but for the most part they have been fine.
