Concealed Carry Up 215%, Murder Rate Down 14%
Breitbart ^ | May 24, 2017 | Awr Hawkins

Concealed carry permits rose 215 percent between 2007 and 2015, and the murder rate dropped 14 percent during that same time period. In other words, more guns being carried for self-defense correlated with fewer murders.

On May 22, Breitbart News reported that the demand for concealed carry permits witnessed its greatest surge ever between May 2016 and May 2017. Fox News referenced Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) data showing there were 14.5 million permit holders in May 2016 and approximately 15.7 million in May 2017.

Now the NRA is tweeting data which shows that the bigger picture is not just the one-year surge but a 215 percent jump in concealed carry permits between 2007 and 2015.

Murder rate drop probably is not a direct result of concealed carry ( and I have a permit )since the mass number of murders in our INNER cities are the result of dirt bags offing each other

I would agree the murder rate may not be down because of ccw. I wonder if street crimes of opportunity in normal neighborhoods are down because of increase in ccw? I feel safer in a town where 40% of people I see are ccw vs having soldiers patrol the streets. On another note I always ccw when visiting friends un hospitals. I just ignore the no guns signs which have no legal backing in Colorado. HOWEVER I, as a patient, had to walk into an ER in a sunburn of Denver and had to go through a frigging scanner. Fortunately I had no EDC on me, not even a knife or flashlight or pepper spray but REALLY. I am suppose to feel safer unarmed than armed? PS I am fine.

As a police officer in an “inner city” that does have concealed carry, and of which many have been utilizing, the murder rate has gone up.

Thugs usually kill other thugs, and they do not fear or respect police or armed citizens. They share the same eyes devoid of empathy or human decency as any muslim terrorist.

People whose self—imposed life expectancy is 25 and consider long term prison as a normalcy do not fear death at the hands of ANYONE.

That being said, still keep carrying and always be cognizant that if you do have to draw down on a feral human, the danger is not over even if they withdraw.

Remember they come from a culture where no slight is let go, and they will return with friends and/or firearms and most likely friends with firearms. So it would behoove you to pop smoke out of the AO.

The biggest crime stat driver is not the # of guns. It is the total # of available criminals a particular locale may have, eg: Chicago v Vermont.

No riots in Idaho. Now why is is that does one suppose? Hmmmm..

TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS
CHAPTER 40 HOMICIDE

18-4009. JUSTIFIABLE HOMICIDE BY ANY PERSON. Homicide is also justifiable when committed by any person in either of the following cases:

1. When resisting any attempt to murder any person, or to commit a felony, or to do some great bodily injury upon any person; or,

2. When committed in defense of habitation, property or person, against one who manifestly intends or endeavors, by violence or surprise, to commit a felony, or against one who manifestly intends and endeavors, in a violent, riotous or tumultuous manner, to enter the habitation of another for the purpose of offering violence to any person therein; or,

3. When committed in the lawful defense of such person, or of a wife or husband, parent, child, master, mistress or servant of such person, when there is reasonable ground to apprehend a design to commit a felony or to do some great bodily injury, and imminent danger of such design being accomplished; but such person, or the person in whose behalf the defense was made, if he was the assailant or engaged in mortal combat, must really and in good faith have endeavored to decline any further struggle before the homicide was committed; or,

4. When necessarily committed in attempting, by lawful ways and means, to apprehend any person for any felony committed, OR IN LAWFULLY SUPPRESSING ANY RIOT (emphasis mine) or in lawfully keeping and preserving the peace.

Bad news for AntiFa(gs). Good news for Idaho

I’ve been seeing metal detectors at ER entries lately too. What brought that on?

My recommendation is to go buy a gun (or many guns) and be prepared to defend yourself. I find it unfortunate one has to get a ‘permit’ for a Constitutionally guaranteed right but so-be-it. At least most states are going that direction.

In short, a right not exercised is a right lost.

So that statute allows someone armed to assist police in suppressing a riot?

Precisely. Police presence not required either.

Permits, particularly the Enhanced CCW that Idaho has offer additional advantages, in that you may access places a standard permit doesn’t allow. If you have an encounter with law enforcement, they will know in short order that you have a permit and that you have been vetted by the NCIS system. It basically identifies you as one of the “good guys”. No guarantees of course, but every little bit helps.

My one and only late night traffic stop in the last 15 years went very smoothly. Cordial and polite all the way around, and no ticket was issued.
