Mass search of Georgia high school students included genital touching ...

a) Deputies ordered students to stand facing the wall with their hands and legs spread wide apart;

b) Deputies touched and manipulated students’ breasts and genitals;

c) Deputies inserted fingers inside girls’ bras, and pulled up girls’ bras, touching and partially exposing their bare breasts;

d) Deputies touched girls’ underwear by placing hands inside the waistbands of their pants or reaching up their dresses;

e) Deputies touched girls’ vaginal areas through their underwear;

f) Deputies cupped or groped boys’ genitals and touched their buttocks through their pants.

This is shocking, at least at first glance. But perhaps it shouldn’t be. If police believe the drug war gives them authorization to conduct anal and vaginal cavity searches, forced enemas, and colonoscopies based on little more than a police officer’s suspicion that someone is hiding some quantity of illegal drugs, allegations of a little over-the-clothes groping of high school students ought not surprise us in the least.

According to the lawsuit, the deputies had a list of 13 suspected students. Three of them were in school that day. For that, they searched 900 students. (And, let’s just point out again, found nothing. In a school of 900.) ...

It is the Washington Post propagandists, after all.

No. This is Radley Balko commenting on the case. He's just the first source I saw about this. It is nationwide news and definitely happened. Here is the Atlanta JC's more vivid reporting:

http://investigations.blog.ajc.com/2017/06/08/ga-student-in-massive-school-drug-search-felt-sexually-violated/

Here's a local TV story with even more damning claims. These people are idiots. In the USA I grew up in, this sheriff would be sporting tar and feathers:

I do not trust the WAPO much less do I like the author/reporter.

This has been reported by multiple sources.

Would you be supportive of the police if you had underage daughter who was searched in this manner?

In locus parentis-once kids enter the school, the school is then able to give consent for anything in place of the parents.

Legally, parents have no say at all regarding their children on school property. No search warrant needed because the school gave consent for the children in their care.

And people wonder why we homeschool...

No drugs were found. Some days are like that, whattaya gonna do?

I hope they at least seized all the students’ lunch money as civil asset forfeitures, to help pay salaries for the officers and cover the subsequent lawsuit. High school students these days probably carry around at least a C-note, so that would be around $90K. Better than nothing.

If there was probable cause and the hand of a female officer just went under the waistband why not? I did not read any cavity searches on these kids. If that was done-it is wrong.

So a drug task force shows up at your daughter's school and they search every student as described, and you'd be OK with it?

What would you say to her when she complains about being groped by government agents?

It seems as if you’re okay with this. Is that true?

You are inferring that.

I merely wished to point out that a typical journalist would of course wish to sow uncertainty and/or actually create a false impression by, e.g., omitting mention of the gender of the officers.

But since you asked me to state my stance (something I have not yet done): I believe that it would have been worse if males had frisked females, and vice-versa.

But, of course, that didn't happen here, did it?

Regards,

There are many versions on the Internet. The author lives to write so called civil liberty violations. No, I am not fine with having any female groped by a male-IF TRUE. I think this is 50/50 at best. Why so few in on the lawsuit out of 900? Do you know why? To much fake news these days. To much trashing of the police. I am more concerned about this country now as these kids will think this is mild once the damn Muslims take over. I hate BLM, too. I want the America I loved enough to die for back in 66-75 and damn near did on 27 Apr 69. I do not want Canadian hot house fruit here in mid June, add ground chuck that turns brown in the AM. THIS COUNTRY MAKES LITTLE if anything these days. I recall when we made everything we used. If you are concerned about this I understand. At present I am on my senators to get rid of Obamacare and DENOUNCE their free AFGE insurance as they are NOT Gov employees. They are cheating US taxpayers.

It was female police on female and I asked my wife. She has NO problem with this as no body cavity searches were done. The END.
