“the Left has taught its university soldiers that America isn’t worth defending”

A few years ago I saw a poll that said that a large percentage of Americans under the age of 25 didn’t associate themselves with America.

Since I was teaching 12 year olds (conservative area of Pennsylvania) and the Olympics were coming up, I asked them who they would cheer for. They named individuals they liked (mostly hockey players). So I asked if they would be cheering for team USA. I got blank looks, they hadn’t considered it.

A few months later, my niece (from NY state) volunteered this exchange about her college summer abroad in France. Students from various countries were spending time at the same youth hostel. She found that the European youth were proud of their home countries and the American youth were not. The Americans were proud of their state or city but not country. Her surprise was that here were people her age proud of their own country. In America, she didn’t know anyone in her age group who was.

My take is that the 2nd amendment means nothing if there is no one to use it and that some Americans may be pointing fingers at Europe while being in much worse shape than is realized.

When public virtue and love of country are banished from our educational systems, the subsequent societal decay guarantees eventual dissolution of our republic.

On Republican Education.
