Lol, first thought that came to my mind also.
Very sad and let’s not forget as a troubled young woman she was taken advantage of by Sens. Dodd and Kennedy. She was mentally ill as well as drug addicted.

So now we know poor Carrie never could totally get off drugs.
Yes she had periods where she was clean, then, for some reason she fell off the wagon and went back to the drugs.
Over the long period she did drugs it had to take a big toll on her health, especially her heart. By extension maybe it caused her sleep apnea.
All avoidable if she could have kept clean. Her body just wore out after all the abuse, I think that is the best explanation.

But I doubt she ever had sobriety in her adult life.
Could be. People with sleep apnea normally awaken to keep from suffocating. People with sleep apnea stoned on drugs might not be able to wake up.
When Keith Richards dies at 147, it'll be blamed on drugs.

Any 60 year old who is using cocaine, especially if its in a cocktail with other potent illegal drugs, and especially if they are out of shape, likely is going to end up dead. That’s just reality.
And she was a smoker.

yea doubt that. sounds like her heart could not take her heavy drug use and smoking. probably had serious health issues, add to the fact she was old.
Doing drugs like that is dangerous for a 25 year old let alone a senior citizen.
That last Star Wars movie she was in was terrible and her scenes were little more than a cameo.

She had stopped smoking but I didn’t realize these drugs would stay in the blood for several days. She couldn’t have been that high on the flight without anyone noticing. And she claimed never to have done heroin when younger. Strange.
I thought the movie was OK, but I got taken out of it because I kept thinking ‘they can fly through hyperspace in space ships and can make cyborg bodies but still have lousy plastic surgery?!!’ They should have explained it away by saying she went through a radiation storm or something.
