Former DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson: DNC Refused DHS Help After Hacking
The Washingtonton Examinter ^ | 06/21/17 | Melissa Quinn

Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Wednesday the Democratic National Committee decided it didn't need the department's help when it was hacked by the Russians and instead opted to rely on a private cybersecurity firm.

"This was a question I asked repeatedly when I learned of [the hacking]—what are we doing? Are we in there? Are we helping them discover the vulnerabilities, because this was fresh off the OPM experience and there was a point at which DHS cybersecurity experts did get in to OPM and help them discover the bad actors and patch some of the exfiltrations, or at least minimize some of the damage," Johnson said referencing the hack at the Office of Personnel Management.

"I was anxious to know whether our folks were in there, and the response I got was the FBI had spoken to them. They don't want our help. They have CrowdStrike," he said. "That was the answer I got after I asked the question a number of times over the progression of time."

Johnson said he was "not pleased" by the response from the DNC, but said the Department of Homeland Security was limited in its response to the party committee since the department doesn't have the power to patch vulnerabilities over the DNC's objections.

"My interest in helping them was definitely of nonpartisan interest," he said, "and I recall very clearly that I was not pleased that we were not in there helping them patch this vulnerability."

Johnson, who served as secretary of Homeland Security in the Obama administration, said in hindsight he "should've camped out" in front of the DNC's headquarters in Washington, D.C., after the committee refused the department's assistance.

Imagine a crime, but refusing to let the police to investigate the crime scene. Now go back to the first part. Imagine a crime...

THAT is what really happened here. It's all fake to explain to excuse how wrong and fake the DNC and their cohorts in the media got the 2016 Presidential election. It's all theater and theatrics now.

They don't want our help. They have CrowdStrike," he said.

Note to self: DO NOT USE CROWDSTRIKE!

Meanwhile, at the heart of the matter,

“Trey Gowdy: “If they had turned the server over to either you or Director Comey, maybe we would have known more and maybe there would have been more for you to report. So I guess what I’m asking you is, why would the victim of a crime not turn over a server to the Intelligence community or to law enforcement?”

Jeh Johnson replied, “Uh, I’m not going to argue with you, sir. Uh, that was a leading question and I’ll agree to be led.”

It’s like going to Best Buy with a broken computer and asking them to repair it without looking at the image files. When they tell you that if they find anything illegal tthey must report it to the police you decide to just buy a new computer instead. There was stuff on the DNC server that the Democrats did not want anyone in law enforcement to look at.

Of course the DNC refused to let the FBI look at their server, they KNEW it was Seth Rich who hacked into their server they knew that the moment it happened..if the DNC thought some foreign Govt hacked their server they would have immediately turned it over to the FBI

He must be getting ready to write a book.

He helped cover up all manner of malfeasance by his fellow Democrats.

Yeah, the hacking was no big deal, a standard breach any 13-year-old kid in his basement could’ve done. It’s only in “hindsight” that it has to be painted up as a massive Russian international attack so that Trump can be smeared as “colluding” with something heinous.

Nothing to see here...

Exactly, the democrats know there are crimes just waiting to be discovered if they let the DHS in there...not that they were much better under the oblahblah regime. I don't trust that jeh Johnson guy, reminds me too much of that jerk congressman from south Carolina, what's his handle? the REAL ugly one?

Imagine a corrupt FBI Director Comey, who accepts the word of a private Democrat aligned security firm (Crowdstrike) rather than demanding the evidence (DNC server) be examined by the FBI.

Further, imagine a corrupt FBI Director who then testifies under oath about it, and portrays this as acceptable procedure!

So what did Trump have to do with any of this. Sounds like Hillary didn’t want anyone, even Obama, to know just what was really going on.

So, let me make sure I have this straight, this investigation of the server being attacked by Russian’s was based only on the evaluation from Crowdstrike?

So what **evidence** of the hacking did Johnson testify to.

The ‘Rats didn’t want Homeland Security or the FBI seeing the documentation of their illegal activity they had on their computers.

Making FReepers look stupid with your comments......maybe its a family name, a nickname or none of your business.

I’ll go w/ what he says, not his name. Which, by the way, is perfectly fine.

Jeh better not lie.

Why not? There won't be any consequences even if he does - the GOP is on the case, remember?
