Angus King is an “Independent” who caucuses with the Dims.

He's an independent in the same way that Bernie Sanders is. They both caucus with the Democrats. They hold their committee seats through the Democrats. They're Democrats, regardless of the "I".

Yeah, I don’t think this bill is going anywhere in the Senate.

Definitely DOA. So what has the Gang of Thirteen been doing these past weeks?

The Preamble to the Constitution lays out the five guiding principles of the Constitution: (1) establish Justice, (2) insure domestic Tranquility, (3) provide for the common defence, (4) promote the general Welfare, and (5) secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
The physical and mental health of citizens is a component of promoting the general Welfare.

“The origins of the United States Public Health Service can be traced to the passage, by the 5th Congress of the United States, of “An Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen” in 1798. This act created Marine Hospitals to care for sick seamen. They were initially located along the East Coast, at the harbors of the major port cities, with Boston being the site of the first such facility, followed later by others including in the Baltimore vicinity at Curtis Bay.”—Wikipedia

Don’t forget murky from Alaska. They are blanketing the radio with ads calling on murky to vote against it even before it was released.

Simple insurance bill here.

1. Insurers can sell across state lines.
2. Tort Reform
3. No bailouts
4. All doctor bills have treatments and costs posted.

Medicaid and Medicare go into completely separate bills with oversight provided.

Well it didn't work out very well, did it? Right now they have fewer than 48 votes to pass.

I propose a new 18th century health care bill. “Bleed them with leeches til they recover or die” all other “health” treatments will be cash on the barrel-head. I am sure the existing VA system could be expanded to handle this at very little actual cost.

Yet another ‘rights by penumbra’ reading. Ask those prosecuted, by Washington during the Whiskey Rebellion, their thoughts on ‘proper govt’...

By the same logic, my mental and physical health are GREATLY enhanced by NOT having to work for which I have (clothing, food, shelter, etc.). That does *NOT* give others, by way of govt, the authority to violate the 5th A. Rights of another by economically violating their 13th as well.

Definitively tell me what % of MY life/property another is entitled? Then, tell me how that does not indenture my being.

I am not paying for a service rendered (believe that is the true definition), be they police/fire/etc., nor paying for which ALL can use (library, parks).

It is theft to benefit another.
