A new Rasmussen poll reports that a majority of voters think so, and it certainly feels that way. Since Donald Trump’s election in November, the pace and intensity of deeply divisive rhetoric has accelerated. Antifa and the Alt-Right are literally fighting in the streets. Combative talking heads on cable news, vicious social media exchanges, riots at universities, a bitter special election in Georgia, and even the shooting of a congressman have both sides rethinking the entire political process and talking about abandoning the “rule of law.”
It is an uneasy time, a time for hard questions. Can politics really provide a solution to our problems, or is it the cause? Should we still abide by democratic processes when a significant portion of the country is enraged by the outcome? What if voting and elections simply weren’t anymore? These are the questions we need to ask and answer honestly.

He says “the Police acted Stupidly” without knowing any facts.
He tells his supporters to get in People’s (who oppose his Policies) faces.
He tells his supporters, if they bring a Knife you bring a Gun.
His Black AG publicly states that he will not enforce Hate Crime Laws against “his people”.
He says he has “a Phone and a Pen” and nobody blinks an eye.
He is caught on a hot Mic telling the evil Russians that he will be “more flexible after the Election” regarding reducing the size of OUR Nuclear Deterrent.
Despite all this and more, those who opposed Obama’s Policies didn’t Riot in the Streets attacking their Political Opponents and the Police and there was no talk of the Country irreversibly splitting apart at the seams.
We are living inside a Twilight Zone Episode or a Liberal Wet Dream depending on your outlook.
When the right abandons the “rule of law” they go to prison.
When the left abandons the “rule of law” they get either elected or government benefits.
That is not what the progressives want, have ever wanted, or intend to tolerate. Their alternative to a Trump government is not a shift of power toward decentralization, it is a Hillary government by force or whatever means necessary, authoritarian, dictatorial, totalitarian. This is evidenced in their clearly stated preference not for toleration of alternative points of view, but for outlawing their very expression. Of all of the thoroughly silly things to accuse progressives of desiring, states' rights is probably the silliest.
Progressives’ sense of inevitability has been deeply shaken by Trump and the rise of nationalist movements in Europe. Has it been shaken enough to consider real alternatives to social democracy?
Certainly it has: violence in the streets and a revolutionary chic that is so far bloodless in their direction and brutal in the direction of their opponents. This is no civil disagreement, their very signs proclaim proudly "This Is War" and we'd better start taking them at their word. They have captured just enough control of state power, academic approval, media programming and a heavy presence within the legal system to get away with this asymmetrical warfare, at least until now.
Ideally a flurry of reciprocal violence will inform their activists that it isn't going to be quite that easy and allow everyone to back off from the abyss, but I see no signs at all that reason is likely to lead them that direction. Perhaps the author can explain his optimism in that regard, but frankly it seems a little unrealistic at the moment.
America is not coming apart but the 25% that identify as moonbat is.

You probably read Charles Murrays book too. It was absolutely fascinating. He nailed it in the first chapter and explained everything in context.
In the 1950s America had a shared cultural identity. Everyone got their news from the same two or three newspapers and three network channels. Now you have 8 million cable channels 75 trillion websites. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle.
Activist judges have destroyed the rule of law, for which we will all pay dearly.
