AT&T is buying TWX on the strength of the Turner networks and HBO. They need content now that Comcast has it via owning NBC. CNN is only a part of the whole but a visible part, and maybe the leadership at AT&T (some of whom are Trump-friendly) are aware of the potential upside to not pissing off half or more of the potential audience. The opportunity is there to make CNN into what FNC was at it’s best, before the Murdock spawn were turned loose to wreck it.

"That story did not meet CNNs editorial standards and has been retracted"How about "that story was not true and we published it without even checking"

CNN could be ‘spun off’ all by its lonesome if the merger is approved, and it may just be a requirement for approval of the merger by the Justice Department.
If CNN is spun of, it will have to stand and compete all on its own. It will be interesting to watch it collapse in the real world market, if it does not change its ways.............

“... highly publicized missteps...”
That whole line of description needs to die in a hot fire. It wasn’t missteps. It was blatantly manufactured assaults through purposely created misinformation.
Criminal slander and liable created at the top of the org and mouthed and written by all the willing soldiers down the chain of command.

I have a hard time understanding this. I thought the AT&T thing was off the table, since Time-Warner has become Spectrum.

There was early talk about the way Zucker managed that wasnt a good fit for the new organization, one source said. They were eyeing ways to neutralize him.Might I suggest a .338 Lupa Magnum?
