On its website, South Korean state news agency Yonhap cited South Korea's military as saying an unidentified ballistic missile launched from a location near the North's border with China at 9:40 a.m. local time. South Korean President Moon Jae-in ordered a National Security Council meeting after the launch, Yonhap reported, citing the Blue House — the South's equivalent of the White House.

Since Obama is in the area, Moon should ask him for advise.

Moon appears to be frighten of the North's ability to rain down destruction, and it is a justifiable fear.

Yes it is a justifiable fear, however it is a fact that North Korea has to be put down, and they are doing their best to create the fear that exists to prevent their destruction.

There is always a way. It has to be found. North Korea has to be resolved.

Missile not required. Just mount the warhead on a boat and sail into the harbor. Our harbor security is crap.

What if a missile plopped out of the water somewhere and happened to land on Pyongyang. What would they say then. Their whole gambit is how far can I push before they push back. How far can they push?

Call a Security Council meeting and spend countless hours beating your gums, then refuse the THAAD system.

That makes sense.

Yes it must be resolved, the North mustn’t be able to threaten any other nation, the big issue is how much pain will it cost and is the South willing to pay the cost?

Agreed. There was an analogous fear of the Iraqi military prior to our invasion. They worked around their defenses. Same can happen with NK although China adds a complicating factor to the mix.

>ballistic missile

It all depends on the definition of “ballistic missile.”

I had a neighbor once call the cops to my place due to what they claimed was an “incendiary device.”

Turn out it was an 8 foot deep by 3 foot diameter hole in the clay ground behind my house on 200 acres that somehow got filled with acetylene and O2 and sparked off.

Loud yes, incendiary, not so much.

Maybe getting to the port itself, but not beyond. I'm guessing we also have ways to monitor nuclear material at sea.

I had fun with the same mixture but only mixed in plastic bags and taped inside cardboard boxes with rudimentary bottle rocket fuses but they still made big bangs—just not as big as yours, I reckon... ;) But still entertained the party crowd!
