The problem with ‘But Trump’s base loves it!’ (Pajama boy fantasy projection)
The Washington Compost ^ | July 3, 2017 | Paul Waldman

Posted on 07/03/2017 8:57:23 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

To judge by the unfiltered contents of President Trump’s psyche as expressed through his Twitter feed, there is nothing he cares about more as president of the United States — not health care, not regulation, not taxes, not trade — than his ongoing battles with the news media. And whenever he says or tweets something more appalling than the last thing he said or tweeted, what ensues is a regular and repeated pattern that goes like this:

  1. Trump tweets something despicable.
  2. Elected Republicans say, “I don’t approve of this.”
  3. White House spokespeople offer laughably pathetic defenses of his behavior.
  4. Journalists and commentators point out that as vulgar and infantile as Trump is being, his base loves this stuff, and therefore it may be a clever strategy and not just a hypersensitive, insecure man-child having a tantrum.
The latest, of course, is this:

With the fake news media, its all about them.

They know it and Trump knows it. Their attacks on him fall flat.

All they can do is moan, whine and b*tch. Sucks to be them.

Nice work Paul Waldman.

I wonder what Trump does when he is on the can.

Trump probably spends about 5 minutes a day on his tweets, and ten hours a day on all those things that the author says Trump doesn’t care about. It’s the media who waste all their time obsessing about the tweets and ignoring everything else.

All he did was re-tweet a badly edited video and every liberal journalist in the world spouts off about how it shows Trump is mentally incompetent.

It was satire. Liberal journalists don’t like being made fun of.

They’re the ones obsessed with Trump but he goes on with the country’s work.

When it come to getting heads checked, its not Trump.

Liar!

President Trump tweets about all those things and more, but the mutha fakin' msm only reports on his tweets that are critical of the msm.

If these msm putzes were less narcisistic and low-self-esteem, they would just report on health care and regulations and taxes. But they want this to be about them while damaging President Trump at the same time.

So they do their best to give good ad humminers instead.

Liberal journalists don’t like being made fun of.

As CS Lewis writes at the begining of The Screwtape Letters, the devil cannot stand to be mocked.

I used it a couple of days ago in a pot thread where things tend to devolve real quickly. :)

The President makes one tweet and it ties up WAPO\NYT\CNN\MSNBC\CBS\ABC\NBC etc... for 3 days.

I love it when a plan comes together.

He’s expanding his base. We love it! The media tactics and hypocritical machinations have become obvious.

I stay away from those pot threads. Everybody goes ballistic over it.

I would just as well keep it underground to keep everybody busy and the everyday citizen think they are sticking it to the man, but that’s just me.

It’s a psych thing and may keep them off heroin or meth.

Exactly! It gets outta control. And I agree with you, just keep it in the closet, and stop trying to parade it around and out in the open and in your face like those narcisistic homos do during pride weak.
