A privacy group has filed an emergency request trying to block the Trump election integrity commissions demand for states to turn over voter data, saying the information, if made public, would be a severe invasion of Americans rights.
The Electronic Privacy Information Center filed its lawsuit Monday afternoon in federal district court in D.C., and Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly has set a speedy schedule, with the administrations reply due by Wednesday afternoon.
The lawsuit is the latest resistance to the voter commission, run by Vice President Mike Pence and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach. Mr. Kobachs letter last week requesting voter information from all 50 states including names, dates of birth, addresses, voting and registration history and partial Social Security numbers has set of a firestorm of criticism.

No sunlight allowed on voter registrations. The
democrats show too many names on tombstones.
Voting is a state power.
All the information that the commission requested is sold by the states for advocacy groups and political parties.
The commission could just buy the data.
But the level of resistance indicates the level of fraud is massive.
The information is public. States are selling it to the highest bidder. What’s the fuss unless you know you have been counting more votes than voters.
When our side tried to stop Obama in the courts, we were told we didn’t have “standing.”
I’m not sure if he can, given that voting occurs on the state level not the national level.
Frivolous and harmful to the judicial branch.
But this Democrat pig of a judge is there to help.
I don’t think all the information is public... name and address yes, but I don’t think social security numbers are.
The Electronic Privacy Information Center, The Whitehouse and anybody that cares to knows that all this is public records. The states either give it away for the asking or sell at a fixed price. It’s how political parties and campaigns know who to send mailers to.
So why all this kabuki theater?
Can Trump just clear all voter rolls and start fresh?
***************
I believe that is a state function and not a Presidential one. There are
various means to cleanse them but most states don’t do that is my guess.
Example: Texas mails out a new voter card every two years to the registered voters.
If it isn’t deliverable to the physical address it is supposed returned to the Registrar of
Voters for that County and the name is removed from the elector roles for the coming two years.
They found the right judge. Some here should recognize the name of this so-called judge over the last decades. She's already ruled in her pea brain.
Are social security numbers public as well?
The Federal Government has an inherent right to establish the eligibility requirements for voting in Federal elections. This includes the right to audit the voter rolls for compliance with these requirements.
I believe the above is true.
I expect that it will take a Supreme Court ruling to validate that belief. Knowing Trump I expect him to push this issue to The Nine Black Robes as fast as he can.
What Trump can do is insist with the attacks on voter integrity due to the perceived Russian interference with the election, new census will immediately commence to ensure there is no ingrained voter fraud.
Let the Democrats argue that point.
The last 4 digits are not a problem. They requesting the Social Security numbers for their last 4 digits.
Most of the informa0 is public. The commission is asking for data to map aganist; in short: validating those on those on the voting rolls are actually real people.
Of course the state’s are in chrarge, and the Ted’s can’t legally throw people off the state’s rolls. But if exposed. Citizens could sue for voter disenfranchisement.
The reds could force their hand buy holding up SSN $. Just say they are trying to verify citizenship, census validation, and prevent SSN fraud.
I’ll bet the DNC voter rolls would be a treasure trove of information on illegal voting.
They only want the last 5 digits, right?
