As if our 20 trillion debt level is not enough, this is another example of the dangerous and catastrophic corrupt uniparty rule.

“In any event, what it really indicates is that this is a regime that intends to continue to refine, and perfect, and expand the capacity to threaten the United States, which is bad enough even without this long-range missile,”

We need to handle this ASAP. I know EMP is theory in regards to a "One Second After" effect but testing the theory over America is a little dicey. I do know Fat Boy Norker is certifiably insane and holds limited options.

Wasn’t this scenario in the “Red Dawn” remake?

How many “””above ground tests””” of nukes were conducted in the 50’s and 60’s in Nevada ......? When the first nuke was set off in NM did the surrounding communities lose power ? Did Las Vegas lose power or radio / TV ?

Collateral damage has to be expected. Are we just going to sit there and forget about NK after the missiles to strike? a surgical strike would work if you can pin Kim down to one spot, then before you do anything you would have to contact Mi and Putin 1st for their approval.

Most EMP fears are based on probabilities and some limited empirical data. Basically, EMP is Global Warming for the Right.

My impression is that taking out the entire US power grid with EMP attacks is not as easy as some doom-and-gloomers make it out to be.

I agree I have always thought this 'bring down the entire U.S. electrical grid' stuff is B.S.; some local disruption, yes, but that's all!

Either an EMP or a massive solar event (ala Carrington Event) would send the US back into the 19th century. Estimates are that up to 90% of the US population would die. And our government is doing zip. Read all about it in Apocalypse Rising - a fantastic read.

Needs to be a high altitude detonation, and yes, some Pacific nuclear detonations disrupted (the then primitive) electronics in Hawaii - all discussed in the prescient book Apocalypse Rising.

That’s a somewhat misleading headline. Gaffney’s actual statements are filled with qualifiers.

And it’s 90% bullshit.

Boy, this guy is a real genius. We’ve known about EMP since the 1960s

How come we don’t take out NK with an EMP? Nobody killed, but no trucks to transport the bazillion fighters to South Korea.

The problem is immeasurably worse. There will be no way to get replacement transformers in place over a destroyed railroad infrastructure. In the year and a half before any replacement transformers reach our shores (with no means of transportating them) the main part of the US population will have perished for lack of food, water, medicine, etc.

The very article you reference admits that a Carrington Event would have catastrophic effects upon the US electronic infrastructure. We are closer to Armageddon than we imagine.

IMHO, this is overly exaggerated neocon scare mongering.

Do we need to better fortify our grid? Yes.

Can NK take it all down with an EMP attack? No, these are the neocon warmonger’s scare tactic.

Remember, they never like a quick and decisive victory — it’s bad for their “business.”
