Trump moves to open more public land to drilling in California

The Trump administration forged ahead with its commitment to boosting domestic fossil fuel production Thursday, directing more public lands to be opened for oil and gas extraction — a move that could bring new drill rigs to California.

The state hasn’t seen new onshore oil and gas leases offered up on federal land in four years because of environmental fights. The order signed by Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke on Thursday has some environmentalists fearing that de facto moratorium will soon end.

At minimum, the administration’s action will intensify the push by energy companies to broaden drilling across California’s prime oil country, in the interior Central Coast region and the southern San Joaquin Valley, and promises a new round of drawn-out conservation battles.

Zinke’s order calls for federal oil and gas leases to be auctioned off at least four times a year in every state where reserves are available. That charge does away with what the oil industry says are sometimes concerted efforts to delay or thwart lease sales and hamper energy exploration.

So, sell it to conservation groups who will close it off? To private owners that will close it and leave the public with no places to visit, to use?no bikes, no quads, no hunting, no hiking... wow.

The U.S should sell its public land and pay off the national debt.

>First and foremost, the Fedeal government was prohibited from owning any land other than that which makes up Washington, D.C., Territories such as Puerto Rico, The U.S. Virgin Islands, and military installations.

I think it’s very likely that Trump will sell most of the feds lands before 4 years is up.

Yep - and if California hadn’t decided to stop spending money on highways (at least twice over the last few decades) because they didn’t believe that folks would need cars “in the future”, they wouldn’t be throwing money away on the bullet (how dare they name it after part of the evil guns) train crap....

I don't think you are right. Do you have a citation or a court case or a link to anything that backs up your claim?

No. Will The Constitution of The United States of America do?

Article I, Section 8:The Congress shall have Power To..... exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;
