Donald Trump Jr. gathered members of campaign for meeting with Russian lawyer before election

Shortly before his father was formally nominated for president last summer, Donald Trump Jr. was approached by a Russian lawyer who set up a meeting to discuss a Russian policy, according to interviews with Trump family lawyers.

President Trump’s eldest son briefly gathered others for the meeting, including his brother-in-law Jared Kushner, as well as then-presidential campaign manager Paul Manafort for the meeting at Trump Tower in New York City with the lawyer, identified by Trump family lawyers as Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Veselnitskaya used the meeting in June 2016 to have a conversation about a U.S. law called the Magnitsky Act that Russia leader Vladimir Putin reviles and has retaliated against by blocking U.S. adoptions of Russian children.

The encounter was short and the Trump team had no further contact with the woman or the policy issue, lawyers said.

The meeting was recently disclosed to congressional investigators by one of the attendees, according to sources directly familiar with the disclosure.

President Trump was not aware of the meeting and did not attend it, according to the lawyers. A translator and an American businessman working for a pro-Russian business lobby also attended the meeting, which lasted about 20 minutes, according to the interviews.

The president’s legal team said Saturday they believe the entire meeting may have been part of a larger election-year opposition effort aimed at creating the appearance of improper connections between Trump family members and Russia that also included a now-discredited intelligence dossier produced by a former British intelligence agent named Christopher Steele who worked for a U.S. political firm known as Fusion GPS.

“We have learned from both our own investigation and public reports that the participants in the meeting misrepresented who they were and who they worked for,” said Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s legal team. “Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the President and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier. "

Dirty tricks.

The entire "dossier" was a work of complete fiction, planted by a British man who was receiving money from a firm funded by Hillary's campaign for opposition research.

Meanwhile, the NY Slimes is running (yet another) "Trump-Russia-Collusion" article tomorrow.

The war continues.....

Hillary hired Fusion GPS (an opposition research/dirty tricks organization), which set up a meeting in an attempt to frame then candidate Donald Trump (he didn't attend the meeting).

Read the entire article. The tentacles go very deep.

The tentacles go deeper still, since the Hillary Clinton campaign took over the nasty oppo research at Fusion GPS begun by the Jeb Bush campaign.

Republicans are knee deep in this, yet somehow they’re never mentioned in these articles.

Don’t let them skate, their betrayal is in some ways worse than the Democrats, who at least didn’t pretend to be supporters.

In the 90’s I went to an Orthodox church for a “Taste of Russia” and around 2008 I visited a Russian themed novelty store. Better call a lawyer.

Indeed - Russian collusion with the democrats. Time for US AG Session to send Podesta and Team Hillary to an federal grand jury.

When I was in high school, I took a Russian language class taught—and I am not making this up—by a teacher who was rumored to be ex-CIA.

So I’m really in deep doo-doo.

I’ve eaten salads with Russian dressing. I like the songs “Road to Moscow” and “Back In the USSR.” I frequently drank vodka as a young man. I’ve seen “From Russia, With Love.” I should probably never run for office.

I remember hillary mentioning during the campaign about Russian involvement in the election. I thought it was absolute nonsense. Now it’s making sense. This really sounds like something the Clintons would do. Obama was in it too.

My VERY good friend was in the Soviet Army as a doctor. He defected during a trip to the USA many years ago and is now an ER doctor in Tennessee and a hard core conservative. He has many fascinating stories to tell about the USSR including their government run healthcare. He says that people who want government run healthcare are absolute idiots and have no clue what they are asking for.

So I guess I'm in trouble too cause I have a close friend who is Russian ... Siberian no less

Jr may have been set up. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. The ties run deep with that russian lawyer. Putin uses kids as bait to try to overturn that law. Deep money laundering

Problem is known snitch and money launderer felix sater and the connection to trump and trump jr.

Mueller and his money laundering team are now going to delve deep into that meeting

Something is wrong here. Why is Sessions and Trump playing dumb when a real fighter would attack. I'm getting very worried that the DOJ is not much better than the one under King Obama and Trump does not have his eye on the real fight. This lack of fighting may be his downfall. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

I see on Drudge that the NYT has another story about Russia. This has already played out and no one cares.

Mulluer, Comey, and Deepstate should be wise enough to realize that they’re not going to replace our duly elected president because of a lot of nothing. Trump wouldn’t go out without a fight and he would have a lot of people supporting him.

Again, Russia has already played out. There is nothing there.
