This is pure Taqyia. Whenever someone invokes the word "jihad" and non-muslims react to what it is, a call for violence, islamists are quick to say "Oh, no. You don't understand 'jihad'. It is a word for 'struggle' and has a non-violent meaning. You people are over-reacting."

At which every non-muslim who has been alive for the past half-decade at least should simply say "Uh huh. Sure."
