The City of San Francisco employed 39,634 people in 2016 (including part-time and construction workers), and the total spent on their salaries and benefits in 2016 was $4,262,344,675, according to the Office of the Controller.
That's about the same amount as the budget for the state of Delaware, which has a population of 945,000 (100,000 more than San Francisco's).
Salaries have increased 18.5 percent since 2012, and benefits have gone up 18.6 percent.
The average salary (excluding benefits) per city employee is $83,227.14.

Garbage truck drivers (”Sanitary engineers”) probably get around 150K. When the Democrat party first represented these workers for a good wage that was laudable. Now it is shamefully perverse and corrupt.
Yeah but nothing tops the BART janitor who raked in $270K in salary and benefits for a year of sweeping out trains and bathrooms.

5 years ago the San Francisco Chronicle featured a profile of the former Chief of Police of San Francisco General Hospital and in one year he made over a half million dollars including overtime.
two years ago they profiled up Chinese Bart cleaning man —I really do mean a man who sweeps up— and in one year with crazy overtime he got almost $300,000.

He also applied for and got massive overtime. There were periods where his time sheets showed he worked 18 atraight days, for 16 hours per day, and no one thought anything about it. And when the BARY General Mgr was questioned on TV, she ripped off her mic and stomped off the set.
