Attorney General Jeff Sessions is advocating to reinstate the D.A.R.E. program, an anti-drug curriculum launched in 1983 by the Los Angeles Police Department, which has been criticized for being ineffective.
"D.A.R.E. is, I think, as I indicated, the best remembered anti-drug program today," Sessions said while speaking at the Drug Abuse Resistance Education International Training Conference in Texas on Tuesday, via NY Daily News. "In recent years, people have not paid much attention to that message, but they are ready to hear it again."
"We know it worked before and we can make it work again," he continued.

Is Sessions running for First Lady, or Drug Tsar now?
Hey Jeff, are you not busy? Need something to occupy your time? How about some of these?
- Obama illegally taking foreign money in 2008 and 2012
- The Clinton Crime Foundation, including money laundering, wire fraud, espionage, and treason
- Podesta's e-mails in WikiLeaks that appear to reference a planned assassination of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Scalia 2 days before his death
- Benghazi
- Former contractor Dennis Montgomery turned over 47 hard drives to FBI Director James Comey that proved that Obama, Clapper, Brennan, and Rice had engaged in illegal surveillance of Supreme Court Justices, Senators, Congressmen, and private citizens (including then President Trump), and Comey buried the evidence
How about you start there Jeff?
Or is all this just too tough for you?
Honestly, I don't know what this guy even wanted the job of Attorney General. He relinquished the power of the Justice Dept in the opening weeks of Trump's Presidency, and has been AWOL ever since.
Maybe Sessions wants to get into the T-Shirt business?
This guy needs to go. He’s useless as AG after he recused himself from anything related to Russia, which means everything - Hillary, Obama, Lynch....
I knew Sessions would be a huge mistake for AG. He’s too friendly and likeable.
Despite his flaws and poor PR judgement, Christie would have been a more effective attack dog to wield the hammer of justice.
Until Jeff Sessions is willing to go after the punishment of criminal activity in the top levels of government, he can forget any interest in lower level crime.
He has been useless at draining the swamp. He acts like a local yokel.
It amazes me how he has yet to clean out the DOJ and has strapped us with dems in charge.
It did not work. That is why it was abandoned.
The program that coincided with the crack epidemic? Sure, why not?
Christie? The walking, er, waddling clusterf*ck? Right let’s install someone with the judgement of a weasel, that’ll turn out well!
You have GOT to be kidding me!!!
DARE TO DO THE RIGHT THING, Mr. Sessions. LOCK ‘EM UP!
DARE is fine but doesn’t Sessions have bigger fish to fry?
Agree. He reportedly gave a snarky answer to Trump within the last few weeks, and said that if Trump didn't like the "job" he was doing, he could always offer his resignation.
What the heck?
Look Sessions, either do your job that you took an oath to do, or resign. But don't play these games. Sessions knows that if he did resign, it would leave the Deputy Attorney General in charge, who cannot be trusted. He hired Mueller as a Special Counsel and is allowing him to go to war with Trump, Trump's family, administration officials, and any of the President's former friends and business partners.
Nice.
Plus, it would take months for Trump to get another Attorney General through the confirmation process.
So Jeff knows we are stuck with him.
I honestly cannot figure out what is going on. Did someone blackmail him? Is he an abject coward? Is he completely incompetent?
What?
There are many Sessions defenders here, but all they offer is hope, rainbows, and unicorns.
Hope is not a strategy.
There is zero evidence that Sessions is going after Rice, Lynch, Holder, Brennan, Clapper, Obama, or Hillary for their multiple crimes and treason.
Hillary, Bill and all of their corrupt crimes must be laughing their asses off.
Just because he ain’t a camera hound doesn’t mean he isn’t looking into a lot of things folks whine he seems to be ignoring. Just saw a newsflash where they announced the biggest take-down of healthcare fraud folks - never saw a peep about it until there was something substantial to announce...
I support bringing D.A.R.E. back. I didn’t realize it had gone away. Students shouldn’t be thinking that just because some areas are decriminalizing addictive substances that’s okay to experiment. Let the students learn the realities of substance abuse as we did in school. Many workplaces still require employees to pass rigorous drug testing even in states where marijuana can now be purchased. I’m sure the libertarians on FR will disagree. So be it.
For too long I thought, or wanted to think Sessions was working behind the scenes gathering cases against the crooks from Obama and the RATS.
Wishful thinking on my part. After I heard Sessions carry on about the wonders of Mueller, I knew we were screwed with him. Sometimes I wonder if he isn’t working for the GOPe.
It was a disaster from the get-go. It forced beat cops to become educators, showing up at schools and lying to kids. "Pot is just as bad as heroin, mmm-kay?" And when the kids figured out they were being lied to, they didn't believe any of it. "Smoking weed didn't ruin my life. Maybe smoking meth won't either?"
Sessions needs to resign and retire. He is USELESS!
Sessions is to being an AG as Jimmy Carter was to being presidential. Trump failed big time choosing this milquetoast, IMHO.
I support bringing D.A.R.E. back.
From what i racall DARE did not have a good track record.
If you support bringing D.A.R.E. back, you must've found it a success. What was it about the D.A.R.E. program you believed was successful? Or do you just like the idea of sending cops to schools to tell kids that drugs are bad?
This guy is a nightmare.
