They ignored the fact the Putin was only in Syria, because his ally, Iran wanted him to be. Russia was not fighting ISIS, they were only protecting a warm water port and Iran's interest. Yes, Russia is a close ally to Iran. They side with Muslim extremists, and they weren't rescuing and Christians in the Middle East. That was a complete fabrication.
No, we shouldn't bomb Russia, but we should realize they are our enemy and against everything the U.S. stands for.
All due respect, but I don't recall it being to the extent of glorifying. Recognizing desirable behaviors by a rival or even an enemy is simply being truthful (assuming that the behavior is not just staged).
And there are damned few reasons for the U.S. and Russia to fight one another. They have their sphere of influence, we have ours; there's a little overlap which, frankly, we should get out of. Let Europe look out for itself this time.
But remember the quote from the colonel in Red Dawn..."Two toughest kids on the block, I guess. Sooner or later, they're gonna fight." Human behavior sucks sometimes.
Russia is not a friend of the Muslims, but Putin sees Iran as a strategic foil against others. Just like China sees North Korea as a foil against us.
As far as the Western values/Christianity thing, Putin plays to his own base very well. He has been ruthless in destroying any nest of Islamists within the borders of Russia.
