I like Sessions very much, BUT, we should NOT even be at this point.
Just think, if he’d stayed in the Senate, we’d have one more good guy fighting for Trump.
Ung.
I USED to like Sessions.
Can’t stand him now.
How is this Sessions' fault? First, Sessions recused himself after consulting with DOJ's ethics department. Sessions was unaware of the fact that the FBI had been conducting an investigation of the Trump campaign since July 2016.
Sessions did not order a special prosecutor. Rosenstein did based on Comey's leaks after he was fired by Trump. This was followed by the DJT Jr. disclosure of a meeting with a Russian lawyer and the release of an email chain that indicated that the Russian government was involved. Sessions may have done the same thing as Rosenstein based on these developments.
Using Sessions as the scapegoat is disturbing on so many levels. He has been a loyal Trump supporter whose early endorsement provided a major boost to the Trump campaign. In addition, the move of Steven Miller from the Sessions senate office staff to the Trump campaign was a major development. Miller authored the position papers on immigration and trade for the Trump campaign. He has authored many of Trump's speeches on the campaign trail and now as President.
Sessions is a man of great integrity. I consider Sessions to be Trump's best and most important appointment. Let's hope he stays, but I have my doubts. Sessions says he will stay as appropriate--for now. He may be forcing Trump's hand to fire him. If Trump fires Sessions, you will see a significant drop in support for Trump. I have been a very vocal supporter of Trump from the very beginning. I contributed to his campaign and worked on his primary here in SC. If he fires Sessions, I will still support him, but my level of commitment and enthusiasm will drop considerably.
