Teens filmed, mocked and laughed while man slowly drowned
Foxnews ^

Posted on 07/20/2017 3:48:23 PM PDT by Red in Blue PA

In the video, which was published by the Florida Today newspaper Thursday, the teens can be heard laughing at Dunn as he splashes futilely in the water and screams for help.

"Get out the water, you gonna die," yells one, while another yells, "ain’t nobody fixing to help you, you dumb (expletive)." As Dunn disappears under the water, one of the teens says, "Oh, he just died."

And you would just stand there watching the “pretty girl” die because you are afraid. There’s little left to say Edd.

I am saying the kids actions don't rise to the level of retribution being called for on this thread (which has the lynch mob here furious..

He wasn't a stranger to the teenagers. Did you not read nor comprehend the article? All the people involved live where this happened.

They made a call.

Nowhere in my post did I suggest the kids who didn't help should be "lynched", but their callousness, while not actionable legally, is certainly inexcusable. Surely, you would agree with that, no?

And, NO, the Florida Today coverage (updated 755pm) reports they DIDN'T make a 911 call.

And, NO, nowhere, in either the USA Today or Florida Today story, is there any reference that the kids knew the drowning man.

http://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/crime/2017/07/20/teens-filmed-mocked-drowning-man-cocoa-police-say/495518001/

Making a value judgment on your reaction after the facts are apparent is irrelevant. My question still stands. What would you do, seeing a complete stranger to you, drowning, who is black and is tatted?

yes they should have called for help, but as far as getting in the water remember this is Florida home of alligators everywhere

...

Trying to rescue a drowning person can be dangerous. It’s usually best to throw them something that floats.

Nope there isn’t.

Also, not only is there zero reference to Dunn’s criminal record, but old pictures that make him look younger and less thug like are all that are provided.

After I looked up Dunn’s criminal record, all this took on shades of a Trayvon Martin redux to me.

What else did the writers outright lie about? I am not willing condemn those kids to the extent you are because the lies the article verifiably contain call the entirety of their contents into question.

As I have pointed out, I did not start out with the position I have taken.

I came to that conclusion after looking up Dunn’s criminal record and contrasting that with the article. Too much outright deception in what was written.

I didn’t take matress girl at face value either.
sometimes I want to know more, and if I find out an article has been lying i dismiss much of it until more is known.

I will admit that I fell for the Duke Lacrosse hoax at the beginning, but I figured it out when Nifong started stonewalling the defense.

I don’t know which is more creepy about water in the southeast: the water moccasins or the gators. If this guy had any size or strength, there is the high possibility that he would drown a would be rescue person in the panic.

I am amazed that it took over 50 posts to get that picture - that was the first thing I thought of.

Cheers!

Even a dog has more compassion, as per the one that swam out to rescue a deer.

Depraved-heart murder

In United States law, depraved-heart murder, also known as depraved-indifference murder, is an action where a defendant acts with a "depraved indifference" to human life and where such act results in a death. In a depraved-heart murder, defendants commit an act even though they know their act runs an unusually high risk of causing death or serious bodily harm to a person. If the risk of death or bodily harm is great enough, ignoring it demonstrates a "depraved indifference" to human life and the resulting death is considered to have been committed with malice aforethought. In some states, depraved-heart killings constitute second-degree murder, while in others, the act would be charged with varying degrees of manslaughter.

If no death results, such an act would generally constitute reckless endangerment (sometimes known as "culpable negligence") and possibly other crimes, such as assault.

Since the "teens" committed no act, it sounds like Depraved Heart does not apply.

Dead guy might have been a member of a “rival group” and they didn’t feel like saving him.

Most blacks don’t have natural buoyancy in the water. They can learn to swim but it’s a very long process for most.

I am not saying his death is a loss, he’s not my focus at all.

It’s the soulless callous disregard for human life by millions of ferals, who, when the EBT collapses, will do home invasions and rape grannies or babies with the same sick laughter.

If you read other articles posted, the teenagers were smoking pot at the time. The behavior was typical for any stoner while they are using.

I agree about what we will see from the potheads if there is a collapse, but it won’t be any different for those raised in better homes.

That is huge. If he was torked up on drugs, it would be suicide to go in the water after him. The prudent thing to do (besides dial 911) would have been to run around looking for rope, a boat, something that floats.

I know it is a stereotype, but it is also true. A majority of 'blacks' do not know how to swim. They are truly capable of it. But they are afraid of going in over their head.

Sad; and it is not genetic: competitive swimming is very big in the continent of Africa.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the fatal drowning rate of African-American children aged five-14 is three times that of white children.
