When the feds get to define “COLA”, it has pretty much been eliminated already over the last 8 - 12 years.

I would be curious if the Civil Service COLA has charted the same course as retirees on Social Security or military retirement.

I believe that I saw where food stamps and other welfare (especially Section 8 housing and “refugee” payments) are up much more than the COLA for SS recipients.

While you almost have a point where COLA is dependent on the program, the fact is that I am receiving more in Military Retirement than from my retirement base of 2004.

I believe there should be no COLA.

Since 1985, all Federal employees are under Social Security, not the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS). Only those who —before 1985—made the choice to stay under CSRS receive that form of retirement.
But, what you NEVER hear about, is that they have access to TSP—the Thrift Savings Plan—which allows them to put a designsted portion of their pay into a variety of investment opportunities, including high risk stocks.
No doubt Congress critters who have TSP have made fortunes under it since they get insider info re many investment opportunities, including “high-risk” stocks.
