Mexico's spiraling violence reached new heights with 2,234 murders in June, the country's deadliest month in at least 20 years, according to government data.

Killings rose in states ranging from the tourist haven of Baja California Sur to the Gulf coast state of Veracruz and even in Mexico City, long considered a relative oasis from drug gang violence. For the first six months of 2017, authorities nationwide recorded 12,155 homicide investigations, or 31 percent more than the 9,300 during the same period last year.

Maybe they need gun control; oh, wait, they have it.

Is part of it that fewer are crossing the border since Trump?

I know! Let’s invite them into OUR country, so they can bring their unique, colorful brand of savagery to us narrow-minded provincials!

It’s all the gangstas crossing back into Mexico from the USA afraid of Trump. It’s good for America.

“It’s all the gangstas crossing back into Mexico from the USA afraid of Trump. It’s good for America.”

Amazing how that is working, even without a wall.

Wait until ICE floods the sanctuary cities to take out the really bad criminals as well as the illegals in those cities.

In our monthly shopping trips, we drive by two Home Depots in two different cities. It seemed like half of the illegals in two counties were outside those two stores before Trump became president.

On our last trip, there were basically no illegals outside the HD stores. Also, the “comfort” rvs and their whores were not in the parking lots.

One our younger relatives, who used to go the Baja area for fishing and just to get away for decades, stopped going after Obama became president.

We pulled the plug on trips down to the Mexican coast during our winters, a few years before he did. Seeing 16-18 year old guys (supposedly the good guys) with military weapons at the airports, on street corners and on guided sight seeing trips into the non coast areas.

That’s exactly what I was thinking....cannibalizing their own for the illicit monies they’re missing. It’s a shame, but it’s not our problem.

It must be being caused by all the WHITE AMERICANS fleeing the US for Mexico.

OR maybe an increase in tourist trade and the banditos have expanded their operations because of the new competition.

FUNNY how the whole world has fallen apart since the departure of BO isn’t it?

Of course the same problems were there, just under or unreported.

The ‘new’ dem motto is for JOBS.... One would think that in the 8 years of the ‘Magic Negro’ and his ‘Magic Pen’ that ALL the worlds travesties would have been resolved. Of course one must differentiate between JOBS and FREEBIES and even the most naive among us must realize the populace will not take both- as long as the freebies remain with the threat of losing them should they be employed, the freebies will win 99.99997 percent of the time.

It's all the gangstas crossing back into Mexico...

That was my thought, too. I'm wondering if the border areas in the US have seen a drop in these activities.

The cartels have lost control over the crime they created. Now criminals attack tourists because the criminals don’t get anything from tourism and they don’t get much from the cartels. So, they are ignoring the cartels threats not to harm tourism.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Trump. Their murder rates have been climbing stratospherically from 2009 onward and continuing to climb year over year. It has everything to do with their country, their corruption and their inaction and absolutely nothing on our part

We used to go to Mexico twice a year. We’ve been all over both coasts. At one time was looking at retiring in Manzanillo. When the crime started ramping up we stopped going.

I used to spend about six weeks a year in Mexico in the 80s and 90s. Even then there were Mexican troops everywhere, in the cities and manning rural roadblocks. What always bothered me was that the weapons held by the young troops were incredibly dinged up and not especially well cared for. Lack of pride and lack of discipline were obvious problems, neither of which made me feel especially safe.

“We used to go to Mexico twice a year. We’ve been all over both coasts. At one time was looking at retiring in Manzanillo. When the crime started ramping up we stopped going.”

Before our grandkids, we used to go to Mexico for a couple of weeks during or after Thanksgiving on time shares. The again in February during our worst winter time.

We often walked from our timeshares to go to good restaurants or just to go shopping on the coastal towns or just for evening beach walks.

At that time we had considered buying good time shares after Christmas until the first of March in various coastal towns.

Our last trip to Mazatlán. We were staying at a very nice timeshare. The bell man and desk clerks warned us not to go into the City itself by our selves and to take their free shuttle to and from the city. They organized group of 8 to 10 of us to go to the city together, and they suggested certain “Guides” to shepard us to and from.

After two of these trips, the other guys and most of our wives said that was enough. So we stayed at the time share and had great lunches and dinners at a next door local sea food outdoor shack. The fishermen would pull up to the shore in their little pangas, and the cooks would come out buy the good stuff. Then, they cooked the fresh seafood by our table.

That was the same time later, when we went there and stayed in the Coastal towns and areas. I felt the same way you did. So we stopped going to the timeshares.

We tried a couple of cruise ships to the Mexican west coast, and we ran into the same stuff. The last one, had a stop in Mazatlán, we were told not to go off the pier which had armed Mexican military on the pier.

The last stop on that trip was at Cabo. We had signed up for a whale watching trip. To get to the whale watching boat we went down a high fenced area with barbed wire coils on the top and sides. On our return trip, the whale watching boat bought us directly to our cruise ship and we boarded via a lowered gang plank ladder.

Something had happened, and they decided to bring us directly back to the cruise ship which was anchored in the bay and not on the pier. Some of the passengers, who were shopping/sight seeing did not make the ship’s departure. They were given the choice of the next cruise ship or a free flight back to California.

Afterwards, my wife of many decades, asked why I had gone into my junk yard dog full alert state after such a great whale watching cruise as we stood watching other small boats bring passengers back from shopping. I told her that something had happened, and they were getting us out asap.

The Captain wasted no time hoisting the anchor and leaving after the last small unloaded their passengers.

That was our last cruise to Mexico.

If the Mexican government wanted to end this, all they would really have to do is send the military in and kill these people.

Well we were explorers. Not much for staying in the resort wherever we stayed. We’d rent a car for the week or week and a half we were there and just take off. Found a lot of great, off the touristy places that way. Since we were planning on retiring in Mexico we wanted to know Mexico. We have a friend who is from San Jose de Gracia, a small town up in the mountains from Manzanillo. We took a day trip up there and stayed in his 9000 sq ft mansion for a couple of days. He was still in California but the help let us in. All it took was telling them we were friends with El Heffe. Lol
When all that became impossible due to the crime we quit going and started going to Hawaii instead. Made me sad. I loved Mexico.
