I’m as disgusted with the bailouts as most Freepers, but if GM goes under then the US will have one major automaker left. I don’t want to see that happen especially after Trump was elected, so I might be tempted to give them another chance.
How many bailouts should taxpayers provide? I suggest that ZERO is the proper answer. Otherwise, taxpayers should rescue ALL companies, even when their demise comes because of their own poor decisions.
And yes, I understand that we are losing US industries - it concerns me too.
No chevy, no how. I do point and laugh at people who drive new ones.
GM should have been broken up as a condition for the bail out.
If one is not smart enough to survive, then one dies.
That goes for every life form on this earth, companies and countries.
Humans are going to learn the consequence of embracing stupidity and dishonesty one way or the other.
F**k GM. Let them die this time. If they can’t compete and turn a profit from a product line that isn’t generating demand, that’s on them.
Trump should abolish the CAFE standards so the automakers can build and market vehicles people actually want to buy. It is my understanding that the automakers make these little POS cars to comply with the CAFE standards, there doesn’t appear to be much of a market for them.
