The uniform immediately tells thugs that the person is a cop. That makes him or her a target.

The uniform identifies him as a cop.

That is all.

It could make him a target or it could shield him just as easily.

No excuses. This cop was rushed through training and given the job when he was not qualified simply to please all the Somali Muslims. He is at fault as are the liberals who pushed to put a Muslim on the police force. I even wonder if this was an accident.

Nobody can speak for all or most cops, but the ones I know are thoroughly disgusted by bad cops and want them off the force and punished.

There are bound to be near misses when people have little time to make such a momentous decision. As for militarized police forces, they are now fighting armies of drug gangs that are armed to the teeth. It’s long past the days of the local cop carrying only a revolver.

Well you being here makes it more liberal, for sure.

“Do you know how often people ambush cops?”

It’s pretty rare, actually. Ordinary folks are far more frequent victims of ambush attacks than cops are.

Sorry, that’s just ignorant. You could take the day off, you know...we have all the ignorance we need.

Oh, and it was glaringly obvious: You cannot defend or explain away your slur on the entire forum when you called it a liberal one, so you simply lash out in insult.

Your tired tactics are lame and transparent.

You’ll be gone from this Free Republic, I guarantee it.

I gave up when the poster sided with the government to demand child support for children that were not the one being forced to pay. His logic was the guy had sex with the woman so he should have to pay. No logic no brain not needed here. They let prisoners out of jail if DNA proves their innocence but this idiot thinks 18-25 years of bondage is ok even if proof shows otherwise. I just can’t put my finger on it, low IQ, disruptor or liberal CPS type. Either was I would like to se HIM go.

Big difference between citizens wanting safe and effective services the pay for vs anarchist race pimps. If you can’t tell the difference no surprise. You seem dense and well idiotic.

Couple that with his 'turd-in-the-punchbowl' approach that TNMOUTH (a former and similar poster) also used, and I suspect either he simply does not play well with others, or is a intentional disrupter of the Delphi Method approach.

I have a very good nose for disruptors, something proven over more than a decade here.

Perhaps this fellow will come around and be less of a namecalling disruptor. Anyone can change. I hold out hope for any man.

Note also that his latest posts seem to be ‘best behavior’. TNMOUTH also did that... went ‘good boy’ for a week or so, only to return to the disruptor mode.

In my Grandpa's day, there were rolling bandits with BARs attacking banks up and down the Midwest. Cops acted differently. In my father's day, there were riots, bombings and more terrorism in the 60’s and 70’s than we can imagine. Cops will still held to a higher standard.

Yes, the drug gangs are bad. But the local sheriff of my home town used to have a Thompson in his car. I am old enough to remember it. It was from the days of Al Capone. That guy dealt with drug running biker gangs (lots of fun stories with that one), what is called human trafficking now, and your normal compliment of small town crime ranging from stray cats to domestic abuse.

He behaved with integrity and never escalated a situation just to do so. The new cop, recent grad, wears BDU’s, pulls his gun out for every traffic stop (Nebraskans are well armed), and treats everyone like a criminal. Yet crime has been down for a long time (meth slowed down to a trickle, and opiods are easy to get so few things with that).

There have always been bad men with guns. Looking at the stats, it was often worse in those “revolver” days than now. For one thing, we don't hang cattle thieves from the bridge anymore (I miss the West). For another, your typical gang banger doesn't wander in with a BAR in 30.06 and shoot up the place.

Cops have changed. The old chief in my home town worked in New Jersey for most of the 80’s. Did a lot of interesting things with people that they write books and movies about now. Still treated people like they were, well, people not enemies or targets.

"...Suggestion... do a ride-a-long with a cop some night. See what they do. Easy to talk when you aren’t the one being faced with split-second decisions that might mean life or death for you or someone else..."
Responsibility2nd:
"...So. Did you get the **** back in your car?
I trust you’ve never made that kind of mistake again.
If you think about it - Justine never should have wandered out into a possible crime scene..."

Did you two read my narrative in Post# 36.
I was a motorist who observed the collision twenty feet in front of me and was the person who telephoned police since two totally banged-up cars were in the middle of the intersection.

The drivers exited their cars, so there were clearly no serious injuries, with maybe only a few bumps and bruises.
Since I was the observer who called it in, the responding officers had my name, age, and description that I gave to dispatch.

All was seemingly fine until Officer Roid Rage arrived on the scene.
Had I tripped while returning to my vehicle or had a truck backfired at that moment, this vein-in-the-forehead steroid cop would have drawn his weapon.

This was in broad daylight at a suburban intersection with other drivers, business proprietors, customers, and passersby all around.
Police were under no threat at that time.

Helpful bystanders who CALL the police, report what they observed, and are on-hand to help the police should not be in danger.

This innocent woman Justine Ruszczyk Damond killed by police officer Mohamed Noor very likely felt she was strolling out to the officers to engage them in true "community policing" fashion.
She paid for it with her life. Tragic, senseless, and preventable.

Amazing how some people so easily surrender the freedom and liberty that previous generations bought for them with blood and sacrifice.

And all it took to make them give up their birthright was to convince them that bowing to the police state is a form of patriotism.

They would have made wonderful citizens of the Soviet state.
