I’m a bit conflicted on this one.

Should she be given a pass because of her age? I might provided she’s sincerely changed her mind about ISIS and Muslims. If not let the Iraqis take care of her.

The other option is to make an example of her for other teens who might be thinking of doing similarly stupid things. In other words, publicize her story and let the Iraqis handle it their way.

you can’t scrub the internet. the stories are out there. it was less of a story when she first disappeared and there were fears that she had gone over to ISIS than when it was confirmed that she had gone over to ISIS.

She definitely needs to go on trial in Iran so that discovery and witnesses can have their day. If she committed no atrocities, she can come home with her tail between her legs. If there is credible evidence that she killed or enslaved Yadzis, for example, she needs to be put down.

I can't tell if she was 16 when this started or she is 16 now. Regardless, I believe that she was old enough to make the decision, so she should be held to that standard.

In every war up until recently, there were underage boys enlisting in the Armed Forces getting killed and wounded. I remember during Viet Nam there was a kid who enlisted under a fake name at age 14, got wounded, sent home, reenlisted under another name at age 15, got wounded, sent home, reenlisted under another name at age 16, got discovered and allowed to stay in the Army (because that way they could keep him out of a combat zone).
