The initiative would form a commission to recommend avenues for California to pursue its independence and delete part of the state constitution that says it is an inseparable part of the U.S. The measure would also instruct the governor and California congressional delegation to negotiate more autonomy for the state.

Actually, I like this! Here's why:

If California is stupid enough to approve secession from the union, no matter how they put it, they will be in a state of rebellion. Once that happens the federal government can come in with whatever force it deems necessary to put down the rebellion. That also means rooting out treason and rounding up traitors. Then there's the ever popular "Reconstruction" where the California reconstituted government will have to meet federal terms before being allowed to run their own affairs. And don't forget the massive deportation of illegal aliens and smashing of California's so called sanctuary cities while the state's under federal control.

So go ahead California, secede. That worked out so well for the southern states the last time.

Or, if allowed to happen, opens it up for other states to do the same.
