Feinstein: NCAA Must Hammer UNC For Academic Fraud
CBS Sports Radio ^ | July 26, 2017 | John Feinstein

Posted on 07/27/2017 5:00:05 AM PDT by The_Media_never_lie

Never in history has there been an NCAA investigation like the one that is (still) ongoing at the University of North Carolina. Now, six years after the initial investigation began, it appears that the school will finally have its day in NCAA Court on August 14th.

The outcome will almost certainly have a huge impact on UNC and on college athletics – one way or the other.

The basic premise of the investigation is this: During a period that might have been as long as 18 years (!!) dating from 1993, numerous Carolina athletes were involved in sham classes in the African and Afro-American studies department.

It goes back longer than that. I am old enough to remember a tall kid named Lew Alcindor at UCLA. it was well know that he lived free in the guest house of a locale estate and drove a newish MB.

Oh well.... the solution remains unchanged.

Cut Federal Funding.

Let the legal voters in the State of North Carolina pay the freight for the college.

These athletes as well as most of the other students at these “Universities “ would be better off taking basket weaving classes rather than the so-called Academic courses. At least then they would learn a transferable skill.

Most Universities these days are diploma mills that destroy the work ethic in those who attend, teach them selfish values and then print out diplomas that tell employers that if they hire these spoiled uneducated brats, they are hiring a worthless SJW who will sue their company for discrimination as soon as a supervisor tells them they actually have to do something to earn their paycheck.

The whole system is engaged in”academic fraud”.

This could all be fixed if the NCAA passed a rule that student athletes must have a high school GPA within .3 of a point of the average student in their incoming class. If the average incoming student has a 3.40 GPA, the student athlete must have at least a 3.10 GPA. In other words, it won’t ever be fixed.

"The whole system is engaged in”academic fraud”.

I agree. One solution would be to treat the athletes as employees, not students, pay them a salary, and not require that they attend classes. Any athlete who wanted to also be an actual student would have to meet the same entrance requirements as any other student.

Yep, you’re right. Wasn’t it Sam Gilbert? They all liked his checkbook.

I taught economics at a university that routinely gets into the Sweet Sixteen. My first semester there, about two weeks before the final exam, two black players on the BB team came in and said: “We’re here for the final.” I told them it was two weeks away. They said they knew that, but they were always given a copy of the final to study. I told them that’s not going to happen. They argued with me, but eventually left.

Less than two minutes later, a full professor was in my office telling me I had to give them the final. I said, no, I didn’t. I asked him why they should get a copy and not everyone else. Now he was so far Left that he was almost making an orbit, but told me I had to because they’ve had a rough life and needed a break. Really?

I told him that if I did that and they actually got a degree, they were not likely going to make it in the NBA and it will take an employers about two seconds to see these idiots don’t know anything. I told him this makes it harder for any other grad to get a job with this company, and probably any other company this employer interacts with.

He left in a huff, but I did not give out the final. I never had another student athlete in any of my econ classes.

Only HBC’s can issue legitimate degrees in African studies. All other colleges are athlete poaching.

My freshman year I had math class known as “Basic Structure of the Number System”...

First day, the instructor tells the class rhetorically “This class is designed to show how numbers can be used or abused in everyday life...For instance, was it in 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue? Or was it, in 1493, Columbus sailed across the sea?”

She then started to speak, but a hand went up in the class...She said to the freshman football player, “Yes?”

He said, “It was blue...”

I saw right then, this was gonna be a “fun” class...LOL

That’s the guy, I had forgotten his name. On a side note, I went to LB State when Tark was the coach and then was fired and penalized. I still blame JD Morgan for that.

Feinstein should spend some time investigating the ‘classes’ that O J supposedly attended at USC.

More than one story has it that he NEVER attended classes & that ‘stand-ins’ took his tests.

A look at the rest of his life since would seem to verify that allegation. And, YES, I believe he killed Nicole & Ron.

Old news. My college (UMass) in the 60s gave jocks fake no-work classes for credit. Jocks had their own frat and generally behaved like violent 14-year-olds.
