Very short article at the link. UK "conservative" Johnson would be correct if:

1. There are plenty of jobs available for the immigrants, and
2. The immigrants are willing to assimilate.

Unfortunately, neither of the above seems to be true. So yeah, I'm disappointed to hear Johnson say what he did. Peace for our time, eh, Boris?

I’d add a third - high IQ and/or bringing a lot of their own $$. No reason to bring over a 70 IQ Somali even if he/she is willing to assimilate.

Migration of poor people with no skills who hate you gives no benefit. It harms the country.

You folks are dead on. The left doesn’t look at the issue of dead wood immigrants. 1880’s influx had a 30% return rate-couldn’t hack it. Would the left buy into it? Their motives are different.

Boris Johnson: Migration is 'fantastic' for the economy

Sure. Because nothing revs up an economy more then adding millions of welfare recipients with a side order of Jihad.

It is worth emphasizing that Boris Johnson is a leading member of the British right. Just more evidence of how messed up the UK is politically.

UK politicians (both left and right) evidently think that this problem will go away on its own. it won’t.

Consider, say, a German immigrant to the UK. That person might become a UK citizen, but part of him is still German. But his children, not so much. The children would have no desire to remake the UK into a Germanic state.

That sort of thing is not occurring in the typical UK Muslim family. Studies out of the UK show that, in general, children of Muslim immigrants are MORE radical than their parents. Here’s one study, from 2007:

Is it possible that Boris is talking about immigrants from Poland, Czech Republic etc.

Which economy?
Let me guess, the GOVERNMENT's economy, since it's a good excuse to take in more taxes and distribute some small portion of it back to the people.
It's of course anathema to the COUNTRY's economy, something that politicians seem to become blind to after only a few years in power.

Excellent question! There is a clip at the link. In it Johnson spoke about Australian immigrants to the UK. But he skirted around the third-world immigrant problem. That’s my beef with him.

Prove it. Defend that statement. With something more than feel-good platitudes, that is. I want someone to show me all these alleged benefits of immigration. I can see the COSTS clearly. But the benefits seem much more elusive.

I would be disappointed if he skirted around that issue. However, in this day and age of PC, he might be charged with some crime or another in the UK if he directly criticized third world immigrants.
