Trump wont be able to make a Recess appointment because the Senate will not go into formal recess. To protect Sessions, they will stay in session by having a call to order every business day by a designated Senator and then in the absence of a Quorum adjourning until the next business day. This will go on until everybody returns after Labor Day. This effectively keeps Trump from firing Sessions and naming a successor and nobody expects him to leave the Deputy AG who appointed Mueller in charge.

I have never seen a senate go to such great lengths to limit what a president can/cannot do. Imagine doing this to a democratic president.
If they would only use a tenth of that energy to try to protect Trump.
