I think you underestimate their ability and motive for ignoring it. I was reading on Ace of Spades (http://ace.mu.nu/) last night about the media's involvement, or more accurately described as "collusion", with GPSFusion,

Money was changing hands. Influence was changing hands. This things is corrupt to a degree worse than even I ever realized, and I have been yammering about how the existing media was a threat to our nation for years.

Companies and Governments were buying stories and paying to spike stories. The whole thing has been "fake news" hand fed to reporters since at least the Clintons.

The media will kill these stories, or some of them might possibly end up in prison.

I'm utterly disgusted by the whole pizzagate thing. And how, still, no one knows what I'm talking about.
