There are moments when you almost feel the Earths axis shift. That happened the other day when Sen. Chuck Schumer blamed someone for something, and it wasnt Donald Trump.
There may be no greater partisan than the Democrats Senate leader. Hes spent months arguing that every bad eventexcept perhaps the weather, is the fault of President Trump.
Hillary Clinton has been the Blamer-in-Chief. Yes, she said, she took responsibility for her own decisions. But they certainly are not why she lost, she explained. It was everyone elses fault.
Obviously, the Russians and Donald Trump were to blame. Also at fault were the Republicans and the Deplorables. To them one could add the Trump-Democrats and all those other people bitterly clinging to their Bibles and guns. Then there were all the people who had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the Clintons over the years.
Blaming everyone else has been the meme for the Clinton machine. It is the official view of those who want her to run again. Two presidential races and two losses so far, but they couldnt possibly be her fault. The third time would be the charm!
Surprisingly, Sen. Schumer wont have it. He and Hillary Clinton served together. Last fall, each relied on the other to deliver the votes to give Democrats control of the White House and Congress. But the American people got in the way.
The other day, Sen. Schumer didnt blame the people. He blamed Hillary Clinton.
When asked about the election by a couple of Washington Post reporters, Sen. Schumer responded: When you lost to somebody who has 40 percent popularity, you dont blame other thingsComey, Russiayou blame yourself. What went wrong, he asked? People didnt know what we stood for, just that we were against Trump. And still believe that.
Perhaps for the first time in his career Sen. Schumer chose fact over fiction and engaged in a bit of honest introspection. Hillary Clinton lost the election. The Democratic congressional candidates lost the election. Where Mr. Schumer is wrong is that the American people did understand what they stood for and rejected it. And the Democrats are still doing the same things, which will lose them the next election.
Schumers admission is important. Not, however, because I like saying, I told you so. Americas troubles are too great to waste time engaging in schadenfreude, that great pastime of enjoying the misfortune of others. We need to work together to solve the nations problems.
The starting point is to stop blaming President Trump for everything.
He didnt spend America blind and send deficits careening upward. The Congressional Budget Office warns that without emergency action well be back over $1 trillion annually in red ink in just a few years.
The president didnt nationalize the health care system, destroy the insurance plans that so many people relied on, and trigger massive premium increases for those who could least afford them. President Trump didnt impose a tsunami of new regulations on American business, raising costs and hurting competitiveness.
The president didnt weaken Americas military, stage a retreat from around the world, and treat the countrys enemies better than its allies. He didnt call strategic patience a policy, during which North Korea continued to develop both nuclear weapons and ICBMs.
He didnt appoint judges who believe the Constitution means what they want it to mean. And President Trump didnt give up defending our borders, allowing illegal aliens to take Americans jobs and potential Islamists to put Americans lives at risk.
None of these problems are Donald Trumps fault. And Democrats, from Sen. Schumer on down, should stop acting as if they were. They certainly shouldnt blame the president for trying to solve the many problems left on his Oval Office desk by Barack Obama on his way out of town.
Sen. Schumers admission is a start. At least the Senate Minority Leader realizes that the Democrats lost, fair and square, because of their own actions. The next stepit isnt quite a 12-step program, but its a startis for Schumer and other Democrats to acknowledge that the Obama administration left a big mess in Washington.
While they still might not like the presidents solutions, they should offer proposals of their own, not act like everything is fine. President Trump isnt perfect and he doesnt have everything right. But he is dealing with the reality facing America today, not the fantasy imagined by Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and their supporters.
Every president sets a mood, a vision, for the country. The strength of a president shows in how he replaces the vision left by the last president with his own.
Right now, we are seeing Obama's taint everywhere. Just last night there was a Pizza Hut commercial apparently celebrating "transgenderism." Obama's legacy is seen in the rampant advocacy for sexual perversion--prominently "transgenderism" but also anything that deviates from the norms of biologically based sexuality. But his legacy touches many other aspects of our culture--the lack of true education in universities, even impinging on the sciences, the coddling of criminals, the foreign policy meant to appease enemies and distance allies, etc. etc.
Supporters of Obama's cultural destruction are fighting back hard against Trump's vision for a greater America. They act like cornered animals in their desperation. I pray that Trump's mood and vision for the country defeats them and sends them back into the shadows soon.
Ken Blackwell is good people, but he is completely wrong about this. They always blame the weather on the global warming deniers.
Don’t wet yourself over this comment, nothing Global communists do is without a sinister motive or purpose.
What are they wanting to hide? What to stop, start or deflect? They got their little antifa army of face masks & hoodies to stop when they were not getting the response they wanted from the public. What are we close to that would submarine them? Do their Muslims have an attack planned? Who’s watching the terrorists with all this upheaval in the Deep State?
Is this a signal for the opposition media to move off of Russia, Russia, Russia? White flag of surrender on coup? Mueller to come out and say Trump campaign is innocent? Or is Mueller investigation taking a left turn in the Russia Russia Russia investigation? Now that it is known that Russia paid for the phony dossier on Trump? The one that McCain had a personal aide retrieve, so he could personally give to Comey. Oh, there is collusion all right! Democrat opp research group, Fusion GPS, illegal unmasking and leakers! The left reeks of collusion. What’s funny is the left is gonna let McCain take the hit. You watch.
As for us, we need to target some Rino’s for the next election cycle!
Want to know what they care about. Look at what they throw the biggest temper tantrums over. Protecting the Russia stole my election lie is still a big thing.
“0bama left a big mess in the entire country”....
You forgot to mention the numerous messes around the world which he could have put a halt to. I despise that man.
How many people around the world died (and continue to die) because of Clown Dunce nobama and his gang of traitors?
Schemer is merely playing the victim card, the innocent stooge being the democrat party.
The oppressor the newly virulent vixen shrillary.
II just came to this realization. It was in fact the Russians who are to blame for the 2016 Presidential election. Everyone Democrat is blaming the Russians but not for Trump’s win. They are blaming the Russians for meddling in the election process.
Since we now have all the evidence from Uranium one, Fusion GPS and a host of other Clinton and DNC scandals that the MSM refuses to report on, I came up with why the Russians are to blame.
The Russians were the Clinton’s attack dogs, going after the Trump campaign. Yet, despite all the money given to them by the DNC and the Clinton’s they still couldn’t get the job done.
Oy, too early and little coffee makes EQ a horrible speller.
Too much hemoglobin in ones caffeine stream does that.
