For the first time in 2,000 years, a group of Kohanim (men of the Jewish priestly caste) living close to Jerusalem’s Old City are studying the relevant Jewish laws to be able to ascend the Temple Mount and enter the Holy of Holies, where God’s presence is said to dwell.

They also need the ashes of the previous temple altar's sacrifices, if I'm not mistaken.

Regardless of that detail, there have been some cattle ranches in the past few decades which have specifically been trying to breed red heifers, and there have been a number of successes which would be fully qualified for a proper levitical dedication of a new temple.

If their last name is Cohen, then they are descended from Aaron. They would be the ones to assume the priesthood.

When General Titus and his boys razed Jerusalem and kicked the Jews out of their homeland, the priestly caste assumes the name "Cohen". It was a way of being able to identify themselves when, it was hoped, one day the Jews would return and begin the sacrifices at the temple.

I know that’s what is commonly believed, but since I do not know if these men have the prerequisite DNA marker, i thought it more cautious to say “might be descended from priests.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y-chromosomal_Aaron A name does not in itself guarantee a particular heritage.

I saw a documentary called ‘Indiana Jones’ where the guy found the Ark of the Covenant and the feds put it into a warehouse somewhere in the USA.

But where exactly is the Holy of Holies currently which they intend to ‘enter’ ?
