Dems suddenly scrambling to come up with ObamaCare fix
Fox News. com ^ | August 2, 2017 | Brooke Singman

After fighting Republicans tooth-and-nail for years on their plans to repeal and replace ObamaCare, Democrats have in a matter of days started touting a slew of proposals aimed at improving the ailing health care system.

The Democrats’ scramble to tackle the problem comes after Senate Republicans endured a high-profile failure on their so-called ‘skinny repeal’ replacement bill last week, leaving unclear whether Republicans can ever get the votes to go it alone on health care.

Given the difficulty in locking down GOP support, some Republicans have welcomed the prospect of bipartisan talks. At the same time, some Democratic ideas -- such as those that swell the deficit -- may find little support on the Republican side.

But the proposals could reflect a party, like the GOP, concerned about public backlash if ObamaCare's problems escalate into the 2018 midterm election year -- amid President Trump's warnings of a looming collapse. Insurers already are seeking big premium hikes for next year, upping the pressure on Congress to make changes.

“Voters will take this out on both parties next year,” warned Jason Pye, vice president of legislative affairs at the conservative FreedomWorks.

Oh, Democrats have to come up with a plan, so that their commie egos can take credit for it. Oh, no, we can’t be bipartisan! We are ace - holes!

Considering they screwed up how we pay for healthcare!

If it doesn’t have repeal in it, don’t pass it!

No Republican should work with Dems on fixing Obamacare.
The Dems own it.

Individual and family healthcare is not a political problem in need of a political solution. Any meddling by government in healthcare will only serve to make matters worse for the people and much more profitable for middle-man corporations and bureaucrats.

Once the VA healthcare system functions well and social security stays solvent, I might listen to political wisdom on their involvement on the subject.

Unfortunately the federal government only rewards failure with bigger budgets, more regulation, and less results. Whatever they touch becomes a vortex of ever increasing diameter, sucking in everything they will throw at it.

It’s the “we would have fixed it if the republicans spent less time trying to kill people with their policies and more time working with us” dog ate my homework excuse.

Donald Trump’s message is that “America” owns it.

He wants the American people to stop dividing against themselves.

If Democrats and Republicans at a negotiating table is what is needed to come up with the next stepping stone away from Obamacare, then by all means let’s do that. It’s better this than holding our doctors hostage because we wanted Democrats to go to hell.

I believe this, and yet our own political mess is a problem that “needs a political solution.”

The only solution that is going to work, I believe, will be an evolution. And the American people are going to have to demand that evolution. Is Obamacare a shangri-la for those in Democrat represented areas? I deeply and darkly doubt whether that is the case. Stupidity blows back on everybody, not just on Republicans.

The only way to deal with bullshit artists is to relentlessly raise the truth in their faces before a cloud of witnesses.

Health care in the US is in crisis.

IMO only a 2 tier system will fix it.

Tier 1 would be for people that can afford their own private insurance.

Tier 2 would be basically an expansion of medicaid :-(

I know what you are going to say, but there is no way the US will ever go back to the time when you had to pay or you did not get care.

That changed forever when they mandated that anyone that shows up in an ER must be treated.

It gonna be expensive unless they do tort reform and a few other things.

... Well ... I do hope those Dems hurry and come up with some fixes soon so that we can see what the Republicans are going to fight tooth and nail against ....... Then when the battle is almost won ... Cave at the last second to give the Democrats a nice Bi-Partisan win.

... Nope ... I'm not a prophet ... It's just what they always seem to do to keep their base entertained for a few fleeting moments.

Ironically, I just (literally as I was reading the article) saw the first political ad bringing up the willful inability of Congress to get rid of Obamacare.

Its getting beyond the political games and getting personal, IMHO.

There always was a sacrificial lamb of some kind for charity purposes. Christendom, in particular, was not always hard hearted by doctrine.

The only difference was in how the lamb was furnished.

I think Christendom got suckered out of its charity role, its people being lured into a system (SS at first) that would let them say they gave at the office (in their payroll taxes).

This is where Christendom should have stood on the honor of the Lord God of Hosts. Not even Franklin D. Roosevelt deserves more honor than that. It didn’t. America slumped into a secular hell, where secular leftism was a poor substitute for sacred liberality.

The church ought to know that charity is an excellent platform for gospel. But only if it gives under church auspices.

Shang-gri-la has no $5,000 copays. It takes a while of enjoying the $10 free stuff before you get hit straight between the eyes with a $5,000 copay for hernia surgery.

Yeah... the fist strikes, slowly. But hard. It’s like God caused Obamacare to write its own punishment in.

Exactly, the ‘RATS own it. We dodged a bullet where the Republicans would have owned it. Let the Death Spiral continue unabated —DON’T COOPERATE WITH THE ‘RATS.

America is telling government to get out. Stop being nasty and divisive, political class.

Get out.

The problem, House, is that a house divided can’t stand.

The process of receding from the brink of madness has to be a mutual one. We are one America even if part of us has been foolish.

Donald Trump has already illustrated this, by making overtures to parties that he knows will be difficult, to be reasonable. He proceeds in a measured manner. Then if these parties remain intransigent, he has the moral and political capital to act more and more severely.

Anarchy can’t be the answer either. A state of wisdom requires evolution in this world.

Spare me the platitudes and your “more gradual progressism” arguments. It’s far better to wait until a far more conservative Congress is elected in 2018 and then try again. Yes, far better than to further entrench socialism.

Are you seeking other people’s money or are you looking for government to take over YOUR personal charitable & family obligations?

Good post, you are right of course.

When I was a child I spent a few months in a Catholic hospital (rheumatic fever).

The care, and the nuns, were wonderful...and there were volunteers everywhere.
