Hungry rodents are apparently menacing parents, nannies and babies on the Upper West Side.

There are about 2 million rats in New York City, and some have settled in Central Park and Riverside Park.

On the Lower East Side people go out with Terriers to clean up their neighborhood of rats. They have a club of sorts.

NYC had a rat problem fifty five years ago. They came up with the perfect solution to get rid of them, offer a bounty on each rat tail. This would put people needing money to work!
Problem was, the public wanted the city politicians to get rid of the rats, and no rat tails were turned in for the bounty.
