President Donald Trump on Friday said he would not rule out a "military option" in Venezuela as the ruling regime there consolidates power.

"We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option, if necessary," Trump told reporters at his New Jersey golf club on Friday.

The president did not answer a question about whether American troops would lead a potential operation.

"We don't talk about it. But a military operation, a military option, is certainly something we could pursue," he responded.....

I think we’re way past that point.

Why? We’re in Afghanistan, Iraq and now the Nork’s are on the horizon and he’s saying this?

He was asked the question. How should he have responded?

]He was asked the question. How should he have responded?

"Hell, no, we're not going to start anymore stupid wars! There is no national security threat from the self inflicted collapse of the Venezuelan society."

That would have been a good start. Certainly better than brainless bellicosity.

I cannot come up with wording. However, I would not have said “I’m not going to rule out a military option in Venezuela,” rather something about 180 degrees different.

Why would US proceed with military intervention? I thought he was going to lessen our military involvement in foreign affairs that are not a direct threat to our national security.

The military option should never be ruled out when dealing with a troublespot.

I would bet there is no way we would go it alone, I almost thought I heard him infer about a joint action. I want to see the exact statement he made, I did watch it on TV. We are in the Organization of American States, OAS. Venezuela seems to be fomenting trouble in Peru and Colombia, causing many refugees, the army has rebelled in Venezuela. I’d like to see what he is talking about exactly.

Venezuela is tied up perhaps with Iran, Hezbollah and whom knows who else, Cuba certainly too.

Don’t jump to conclusions.

I think Trump is now saying outrageous things to take advantage of the extremely bad news coverage he’s gotten just so he can keep our enemies guessing about what he might really do.

With regard to Venezuela, what do you imagine is being negotiated? Are you under the impression the US can solve Venezuela's problems?

We don’t need to be involved in another situation. Focus on jobs and the border

Does not sound necessary and does sound like bridge too far.

Why? Why can’t he just stop with what he says that is good and not keep running his mouth?

He could have just kept this one to himself for a bit or for good.

This is the great man we Elected under our constitutional election process. He is a hitter. The Monroe doctrine precludes enemies from this hemisphere and Trump is well within the bounds of the constitution to invade Venezuela to save those starving people from a communist dictator and I fully support that. Instead of doing sex changes and giving women easy physical tests discriminating against men and allowing faggots in men’s showers , we need to get this military out of the garage and go kill communists and take things and break things. Im tired of the free pass to free college and health care where you don’t bring in the spoils for our flag. INVADE VENEZUELA NOW!! Take the oil to pay us for saving those people who allowed this to happen!!

"Trump: 'I'm not going to rule out a military option' in Venezuela"

He could say the same of Canada. The Canadians might not like it, but I doubt if they'll lose any sleep over it. The Venezuelans, on the other hand...
