That recruitment process will continue with the California National Party’s third annual convention, which takes place on Sunday at the Betty Ong Rec Center in San Francisco’s Chinatown.
Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, who has been at the forefront of a campaign to qualify a California secession initiative, is the keynote speaker. Attendees will also revise the party’s progressive official platform, which in addition to the contention that the Golden State is overtaxed and underrepresented on the national stage, advocates single-payer universal healthcare, an overhaul of policing and criminal justice policies, high-speed rail and a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
The California National Party is distinct from “CalExit,” another effort to leave the United States and form a new country that has struggled so far to put that issue before voters. Members say they are interested in forming a more sustained political movement that can disrupt the two-party system. Louis Marinelli mounted the first campaign as a California National Party candidate last year, finishing third in the 80th Assembly District primary with about 6 percent of the vote, though the group says it never endorsed him.

Most posters are just interested in bashing us here in Cali and making jokes about us. They forget that there are millions more conservatives here than a bunch of the little north eastern states put together.

Sure, just chuck everything I’ve worked my whole life for because of a pack of communists. That may end up happening. But for now, I’m staying put and fighting. I wish we had more support from the rest of the country.

For a whole host of reasons allowing CA to leave would be a tragic mistake.
I was born in Oakland. Actually the naval hospital at the (now gone) Alameda Naval Air Station. But my BC lists Oakland as the city.
I annoy liberals by telling them I am the last white conservative born in Oakland.
This whole notion is just a bunch of people moving their mouths and words coming out. The proposal is not going anywhere.
Remove all US military presence.
Be careful what you ask for.
It wouldn’t be just California; it would also be Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii. This would cut off the U.S. from the Pacific Ocean and I’m not sure we can allow that.
Also, for California to go would require a change to the U.S. Constitution and that kind of a change would open the way for probably many other states to leave as well, possibly along Red State/Blue State boundaries.
