I’m surprised that California didn’t require such easements in deeds to beachfront property. Why was there ever a conflict about what ought to be done?

My understanding is that the 1%ers can’t claim the beach between the high tide and low tide lines (regardless of how many millions they spend on the property). This has been an issue with Hollywood types in the past.
