Binney said that could be the reason Democrats did not want the FBI to look at their systems- ostensibly because they may not trace back to Russia.

And yet neither Sessions nor our supposedly Republican congress see this as a legal justification for a search warrant to get the DNC computers.

Trace routes aren’t always reliable, I can use proxy chaining and then hack into some schmuck’s computer in Bolivia and make it look like it came from there.

But with that said, China hacks us all the time so Binney’s statement can still hold water. If any of this does go to trial and the defense lawyers have IQ’s higher than room temperature, the discovery phase should be extremely interesting. However, I don’t think that’s Mueller’s angle, I think he will try and get Manafort on financial crimes and then try to get him to squeal in return for leniency.

Mueller is trying to pull a rope-a-dope.
