Papenheim said Tuesday evening that he's pleased the company took "action so swiftly" and removed the tribute to a man remembered almost solely for trying to destroy the American republic so that southern plantation owners and industrialists could continue to profit from human enslavement.

Because if the South had remained in the Union, all the slaves would have suddenly stopped being exploited for profit.

How does that work again? Explain this thing to me.

Study the Civil War enough, and you’ll find a shocking amount of racism came from the Yankees, as well. William T Sherman being one of the best examples.

Not trying to excuse slavery, of course, but just trying to point out that the war wasn’t as black and white as people are making it sound.
