'He missed a critical opportunity': Walmart CEO slams Trump for failing to 'unequivocally' reject white supremacists

McMillon has criticized President Trump for failing to "unequivocally" reject white supremacists in aftermath of their violent rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"As we watched events and response from President Trump over weekend, we felt he missed critical opportunity to help bring our country together by unequivocally rejecting appalling actions of white supremacists," McMillon wrote in statement posted to Walmart's website.

McMillon's full statement:

Respect for the individual is one of our core beliefs at Walmart. And the role we play in communities around the country to build a more diverse and inclusive society is more critical than ever as the tragic events in Charlottesville over the weekend painfully reminded us. Our prayers are with the victims and their families.

As we watched the events and the response from President Trump over the weekend, we too felt that he missed a critical opportunity to help bring our country together by unequivocally rejecting the appalling actions of white supremacists. His remarks today were a step in the right direction and we need that clarity and consistency in the future.

Our country is facing some very difficult issues that require our elected officials, business leaders and community-based organizations to work together. Representing a company with the largest and one of the most diverse groups of associates in the U.S., and an even more diverse customer base of tens of millions of customers, we believe we should stay engaged to try to influence decisions in a positive way and help bring people together. I will continue to strongly advocate on behalf of our associates and customers, and urge our elected officials to do their part to promote a more just, tolerant and diverse society.

I called Walmart and told them that I did not think the CEO was unifying in the least and that I did not like his politicizing of Walmart--first time I have ever seen this with Walmart.

Hence Our family will be spending our money elsewhere.

President Trump criticized white supremacists and the Klan repeatedly....what did this idiot McMillon want from him?

Did McMillon find fault with the actions of antifa and the BLM crowd? What a dolt.

I did not go to Walmart today because of that statement. I stopped at Rite Aid instead and bought the same health and beauty products I usually buy at Walmart, but it was the Rite Aid brand.

The craven crony-capitalists think they smell Trump’s blood in the water, so are giving us their politically correct bona fides to cover their @sses with the media and in case this slow moving DC coup succeeds

I’m afraid Walmart has been kowtowing to liberals for quite some time. Go to their corporate page and read some of their statements about the things they support. Leftists have blackmailed all big companies by threatening protests and by the ranting and raving of liberal politicians. They’re all running scared.

Gone are the days when CEOs used to shut their trap and focus on selling products customers want.

There’s one not too far from us that has so many Somalis working there that the locals just call it “Somali-Mart”. Many locals, especially white folks, just won’t even go there to shop anymore.

cowards. Let’s look at it this way.

If a President did NOT say what Trump said (both sides were wrong to use violence) then he would be saying it is OK to conduct violence on certain groups deemed offensive.

It seems the end of diversity is when no white people are left or that whites become completely irrelevant. No wonder there are still neoNazis.

How many neoNazis were at the rally and how many in the US? Are they such a grave threat that we have to bother the President with it when there is so much else he should focus on?

Wasn't Hillary on the Walmart board at one time? Putting scum in charge is the goal of putting even bigger globalist scum on the board of companies.

I already called them, too, and both my wife, daughter, and son will as well.

I get the feeling he feels those customers are more important than his Trump supporting customers—which is why I am going elsewhere!

WalMart sucks more than any store I’ve ever been in.

Every store is like walking through Detroit, and without EBT cards, it’d go broke.

And that is why I’ve never shopped at Walmart. Darn now I can’t threaten to take my biz elsewhere. I never did biz with them.

American white supremacists are entitled to constitutionally protected free speech.
