Trump ends Obama's Operation Choke Point
Washington Examiner ^ | 8-18-2017 | Joseph Lawler

The Trump administration has ended Operation Choke Point, the anti-fraud initiative started under the Obama administration that many Republicans argued was used to targeted gun retailers and other businesses that Democrats found objectionable.

Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd told GOP representatives in a Wednesday letter that that the long-running program had ended, bringing a conclusion to a chapter in the Obama years that long provoked and angered conservatives who saw Choke Point as an extralegal crackdown on politically disfavored groups.

"All of the department's bank investigations conducted as part of Operation Chokepoint are now over, the initiative is no longer in effect, and it will not be undertaken again," Boyd wrote in the letter.

The letter was addressed to Jeb Hensarling and Bob Goodlatte, the chairmen of the Financial Services and Judiciary Committees, respectively. Their staffs confirmed they received the letter.

The Republicans had written last week to Attorney General Jeff Session for confirmation that the program was over so that businesses that might be targeted could breathe easy.

They both know the importance of walls and how they work.

Like the drool humor of RR, DJT shows us the same on numerous occasions.

There are few ways this voter would even think of leaving the man who brought us this far, shown us the swamp creatures of all varieties, and was unafraid to speak his mind.

DJT = MAGA
delayed in doing so by the Radical Left, the GOPe RINOs and mask wearers who want to see US go down in flames. Two different goals and each of us must make the choice.

I’m afraid to read the bible. My past has made it quite unlikely that I shall end up in the right place when I pass.

Then by all means you must read the Bible, because Christ sets the prisoners of guilt free! Belief in Him and acceptance of His grace-filled gift of Salvation washes your sins away in His eyes. It does not absolve you from consequences, and the key is repentance, which you just demonstrated in your post. So read and rejoice! You are a beloved child of God, and He wants no one to perish, but to have eternal life!

Donn’t know which book to start with or if it’s a beginning to end kind of thing. Where would I start?

Serious question. And thank you.

It’s embarrassing to read it because i’ve messed up so bad and I’m ashamed or feel I dont have the right to read it

Kind of spooky considering what I was asking. :)

I would start by opening and looking over the psalms. They comfort you. Then go to the New Testament, since you need to forgive yourself and know that you are forgiven, and since you are already repenting of what you have done that is weighing on you. Just start at the beginning and read a chapter or two each day.

Here's a good psalm for you today: Psalm 121.

If you are reading from a paper bible that you have on hand, know that the internet also has many translation resources so that a troublesome passage may become clearer in a newer translation. But not all translations are good. For the closest approximation to today's English, I recommend the NEW LIVING Translation (NLT). For beautiful language, the King James Version (KJV). I am not adverse to the New King James, altho some people object. If you are Catholic, there is a standard Catholic Bible, or you could ask some of the FReepers such as Salvation or Mrs. Don-o for advice about what version to use.

There is a site called BibleHub.com where you can type in the verse and you will be shown many translations. But for ordinary online Bible reading of whole chapters, I love BibleGateway.com. It allows you to pick your translation or toggle back and forth between different versions.

Later on you may go back, look at the notes in the New Testament, and you will see that Jesus and the disciples often refer to the verses in the Old Testament, and when you can, go back and read there -- especially Isaiah, which predicts the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ hundreds of years before it happened.

The most important thing is to just get started somewhere. The fact that you feel bad is the first step! It is repentance and a call out for a savior! He is waiting for you and will speak to you through the words of scripture. Bless you on your journey. Don't hesitate to ask me or any of the intercessors at the AMERICA Prayer Vigil for help via FReepmail, or go to the Religion Forum here on FR and converse with some of the many FReepers who will be glad to help you along your journey, and pray for you. If someone is rude, keep going until you find some FReepers to help and teach you. FReepmail me any time.

Here is a website that reads the entire book of Psalms aloud. I find it to be beautiful, very soothing and uplifting. The length is 4 hours, 52 min. God Bless you, dp0622

I just wanted to second all of Albion White’s good thoughts. The fact that you know you messed up, you’re experiencing some remorse, and you want to make a humble approach to God, shows God is already calling you and working with your heart. As for Him to send the Holy Spirit to guide you. “Help me!” is a good prayer. God never ignores it!

I personally like the Ignatius Study Bible -— it’s good to have an edition with some overview and study guide features. Starting with the Psalms and the Gospels is an excellent idea. I’d say, read slow and formulate questions like who, what when, where, and especially why and how just like a reporter!

Express your honest self to God. He wants to hear from you. Ask Him to join you to His people: He will.

Blessings to you.
