Many observers of the proceedings saw Captain McVeigh’s court martial as forced by the Admiral Ernest King’s demand for a scalp, the verdict predetermined and the facts be damned.

Admiral Bull Halsey barely got a slap on the wrist for losing about 800 sailors and some ships in a couple of typhoons.
