If you haven't ever read and/or watched either movie made of the novel WASHINGTON SQUARE, by Henry James ( the first movie is called THE HEIRESS, the second one uses the book title ), do so; it takes place in and around Washington Square, so it'll mean more to you now. Both movies are very well done.
