Former Obama advisor David Axelrod on Wednesday cautioned against talk that President Trump is unfit for office, saying it opens the door to a potentially dangerous road.
The inference was that somehow there should be some effort to remove him, or at least thats how some people would have heard it, Axelrod told CNNs The Situation Room.
And I think we have to be very, very careful when we have these discussions because we have a system, a Constitutional system.
Axelrod specifically referenced comments made by former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who said he questions Trumps fitness for the presidency following his remarks at a Tuesday night rally in Phoenix, Ariz.
"I really question ... his fitness to be in this office," Clapper said late Tuesday.
"I also am beginning to wonder about his motivation for it, maybe he is looking for a way out."
Axelrod said while he took Clappers remarks seriously, they made him nervous.
And if people get a sense that theres some extraordinary measure thats going to be taken to effect what they would view as a bloodless coup, Axelrod explained.

Of course intelligent people will choose to identify with the side that has all the guns.
Axelrod isn’t as stupid as Clapper looks.
Blowback is a harsh mistress. Go ahead Lefties, make our day.
Clapper and his buddy Brennan are up to their eyeballs in the phony Trump-Russia scam. Too many lies. Too many corrupt investigations of the DNC (now we no it was a thumbdrive) hack.
They are both corrupt to the core.
They both need Trump gone.
I’m just surprised that so much common sense - and even respect for the Constitution - is coming from David Axelrod. There’s hope, I guess!
Axelrod is right.
They better watch their step.

[ Axelrod isnt as stupid as Clapper looks. ]
Nicely-played.
[ Axelrod warns: Talk of removing Trump a ‘very dangerous road’ ]
Yes it is, Obama-boy. This is the ONE time we agree.
Presidents mostly fill their cabinets with people from their own party, but some offices were traditionally seen as non-partisan. Attorney General was sometimes an exception--at least with JFK, Nixon, and Clinton, all outdone by Obama with Holder and Lynch. But Obama also put hyper-partisan hacks in supposedly non-partisan positions (IRS, FBI, CIA, NSA). And of course their underlings are still there trying to undermine Trump at every opportunity.
Finally a Democrat says something intelligent. That’s total solar eclipse rare!
True, but I would take anything this commie snake says with a large helping of salt, kosher preferred.
Don’t worry David, we will show you mercy.
I must say, I’m really concerned with the left’s almost psychotic focus on removing Trump from his duly elected office. They have floated more potential paths and methodologies than a Tom Clancy novel. People like Clapper who have lost their office (but not their contacts) continue to stir the pot. Elected officials call for DJT to be killed or declared incompetent. Folks across a wide swath of the political spectrum maintain the drumbeat of impeachment, even absent impeachable offenses. They want to paint everything the man does as racist, fascist, or just plain crazy.
This is the left looking into the mirror and not wanting to see the truth of the reflection.
I, for one, will stand with Trump. He isn’t the polished politico that those a$$clowns are, thankfully. His rhetoric sometimes gets in the way of his message. But, I believe his heart is the heart of America, and his vision is the vision for America.
Clapper and the rest can drop this crap and move on, or they can escalate and have on their own hands and heads the blood of the minions they will toss into the fray, unwitting and unprepared for the response they have yet to see.
And, may God Bless the United States of America!
You forgot the third member of the trio...Comey.
The three of them carried out Obama’s directives by any corrupt means at their disposal and all are guilty of multiple Capital crimes.
“Dont worry David, we will show you mercy.”
Who’s “we”, kimosabe?

Very well said.

All depends on your definition of mercy.
For instance, Draw and Quarter versus Firing Squad.
I think it’s dangerous to assume that our side owns most of the weapons. A majority, but it’s a huge fallacy to assume our side automatically wins in a hot civil war.
They REALLY don’t want to get into a discussion about fitness for office, now do they. Clintons (all of them), Obamas, etc etc -— they will be hanging on to one huge slippery slope.
Uh, no.
“I, for one, will stand with Trump.”

So will I,and the more they attack him the more I like him.
I was neutral when he first announced but now I love him——and I’m so damned sick of the attacks.
