Communism and National Socialism are far more alike than they are different. Many of the adherents of one or the other have little or no difficulty in making the mental adjustments necessary to change sides, as witness East Germany, very much under the control of the National Socialists for years, had no difficulty at all in many of the former Nazi officials going through a brief “denazification” training, and emerging as full fledged Soviet-type commissars. East Germany became even more Communist than its occupying forces from the Soviet Union.
