With the left declaring war on the police, saying they will kill them at every opportunity, they have only themselves to blame for the escalation.
If they continue to stand down against real violence, what difference does it make?
Antifa is being used to sell the rest of us on this idea. But it’s not Antifa this gear will be used on.
The problem with the violent gangs of the left has nothing to do with a lack of gear. It’s more because of the plutocratic weirdo money and influence behind those who are above the law and getting away with the violence.
Let the police escalate up to skip shots with shotguns if necessary to quell riots. Anything beyond that should be handled by the National Guard.

The issue is police being ordered to stand down. That’s what needs to be investigated.
The police in Berkley, California do need to be investigated.
Apparently the police department seems to enjoy letting ANTIFA and COP KILLERS BLM attack pro Trump protesters.
This while they stand around peacocking, trying to look tough, after the fact..., and doing absolutely nothing.
I guess the Berkley Police think ANTIFA and BLM will be nice to the local police should a communist revolution kick off?

As someone with a son going into law enforcement after college I’m very glad to see this.
Yeah, remember a few years ago when a bunch of us FReepers hated the idea of 0bama militarizing local police and County Sheriff’s departments enough that us making our concerns known to our rulers, got him to back off on it?
But now, since it is Trump doing it, it is all ‘hunky dory’.
As much as a lot of us might temporarily enjoy seeeing local police go after Antifa and the other leftist terrorist organizations with armored vehicles and machine guns, that schadenfreude wouldn’t last long, when we realize that the feds now ‘own’ our local law enforcement, and we are more likely going to be victims of a militarized police force than are our leftist enemies.
The left didn’t seem to have a problem with Obama, McCain and other politicians equipping ISIS and similar Islamic terrorist groups with US military gear.

Considering that it is the Alt-Left who will be on the receiving end of most of this hardware, I have no issue with the plan.
