Seven months into the Trump administration, Palestinian leaders say they still dont know what President Trumps position is on their conflict with Israel, frustrated that he refuses to commit publicly to the so-called two-state solution as the key to resolving it.
As a delegation led by White House adviser Jared Kushner arrived in the region for meetings with Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, there was a glimpse of that frustration in the State Department briefing room on Wednesday.
Why are you so loath to say to commit yourself, to recommit yourself to the two-state solution? asked Said Arikat, Washington bureau chief for the Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds.
Spokeswoman Heather Nauert began her response by saying Trump has made it clear from the outset that Mideast peace is one of his top priorities. [ ]
Nauerts inference that embracing the two-state solution would amount to showing bias [to] one side over the other is not something Palestinian leaders and supporters will have heard publicly from a U.S. administration for at least 15 years.

“Mattis said. Were going to have to find a way for a two-state solution. If we do not, then we will continue to see warfare as it keeps the kettle boiling out there.”
I know he’s worshipped because he says tough guy things (he later prosecuted the Haditha guys who actually did what he bragged he would do)
But did the genius not notice Gaza? The Israelis gave it back. A turn key city in great shape. The palis destroyed it and turned it into a rocket base.
Does Mattis truly think peace will break out if Israel would just make the West Bank into a nation and leave?
Idiotic.
“they should be absorbed by Israel and brought to heel!!!”
Never!! If Israel absorbs them, they will be Israelis and will vote. The west bank simply needs to remain an occupied territory forever. Administered by an Israeli military governor, but -never- annexed into Israel.
No one state solution, no two state solution. Just an Israel, and a buffer zone they rule. It was seized when the Jordanians and Syrians attacked. Now its a no mans land the Israelis should always keep as a buffer.
Ever notice how these macho military guys, when it comes to Muslims WITH LOTS OF MONEY, put on pussy hats and assless chaps?
Lol, perfect!

What nonsense, at least the headline.
The source of the headline are unnamed palestinians. Reading the thread I see some conservatives accept that. Myself, I don't trust unnamed palestinian officials any more than I trust unnamed American officials. Actually far less, unnamed American officials often make sense.
As to President Trump, well, he said nothing. Which doesn't prevent palestinian officials from speaking for him.
The administration, when asked U.S. was departing from the long-held position that the best possible outcome, that everybody agrees upon, is the two-state solution. Heather Nauert, spokeswoman, said Our policy on this hasnt changed
What do you mean “everybody,” kimosave? The two-state solution is a bad idea whose time has gone.
