In case you were wondering how long it would take before you'd start seeing results of Amazon's recently approved acquisition of Whole Foods, the answer is "like, right now."

In addition the uniquely meaty merger of visual branding seen above—a photo caught at an LA-area Whole Foods location by USA Today's Los Angeles bureau chief Chris Woodyard—prices are already starting to drop on many of Whole Foods' most popular items.

It’s not hippie looking kids, they just work there. The disturbing shoppers are emaciated female zombies with RBF who all look alike, occasionally with their whupped male consorts. You can just feel the hostility to anyone unlike them radiating. Thoughts really are things, and theirs are bad ones.

What’s up with the phallic symbol at the bottom of the Amazon logo in the picture at the article?

my understanding is that their prices are generally pretty inflated

In the article, they mention that avocados were $2.99 each in NY. Now they are $1.99 or something like that. I get them here in CO for .79 cents each.

Loss leader concept. Make those products you want cheap, even less than cost. Get folks in the door, get them hooked. Raise gradually.

If Bezos was a Conservative / Republican, the Headline would be “Rich Republican Lowers Grocery Prices For Other Rich People”. Poor Minorities hardest hit.

Amazon does not have any real experience with brick and mortar stores or in the highly competitive grocery business. Lowering prices may attract new customers, but hardly will make Whole Foods competitive with big box grocery stores that do $1.5 million+ in sales per week at profit levels of 1-2%.

The worst things about WF besides the still ridiculous prices are the annoying loonies in the parking lot trying to get you to sign looney petitions.

i remember when we’d write letters to schedule long distance phone calls after 11:00pm when insane LD rates dropped to merely exorbitant rates so our family could afford to briefly speak to my mom’s parents who lived a 100 miles away.

now, 35 years after the breakup of AT&T Bell System monopoly, unlimited phone calls to anywhere in North America cost me under $10.00/month thanks to unlimited competition and practically unlimited advances in technology unleashed by the breakup.

“The uppity clientele there are going to have their beautiful store experience marred by regular folk. Let’s see how tolerant they really are !”

indeed. and it’s going to be hilarious when the snooty professors’ wives and uber-rich C.U. students in Boulder are invaded by the hoi polloi at the Boulder temple of Whole Foods!

“BOL! My wife and I will wear our Walmart Shopping gear to visit our WF today.”

even better, take some used plastic Walmart bags with you and make sure the logo is easily seen.

i saw a poor fellow in a Boulder King Soopers grocery store get hassled by some P.o.S. holier-than-thou SJW for bringing in a Walmart bag to reuse (Boulder forces all of its stores to charge for bags).

People must live really boring lives to have such a fixation on this.

Well, heavens. It's a scandal when Evil Amazon takes over the upper middle class Liberals favorite elitist grocery store and lowers the main barrier that has kept the lower middle class out of their haven. There will be people wearing...[gasp]...t-shirts and flip flops shopping in their grocery store. It is enough to give one the vapors.

Go interview the folks selling produce (veggies) to Whole Foods. The demands are staggering.

They insist that farmers use the $#it for fertilizer instead of the chemicals that the $#it breaks down to (and must break down to in order for the plants to use it) and not poison the poor little bugs who would damage the crops.

How does a plant tell the difference between the chemical being released from crap or refined in a facility?

Yes, that’s what anti-trust laws are for....

Broke up Standard Oil, and AT&T... and base don their behavior should have broken up MS back in the late 90s... but didn’t

Sadly the uniparty is on the Take, you really think they are going to take on BEZOs? Trump may, but I don’t believe anyone else in DC has the balls to.

I remember when a call a block way was billed as long distance! Different area code and different carrier (Pacific Bell vs General Telephone).

Nah, I go to one in my blue collar uniform work shirt all the time after work to pick up organic veggies for my Mom, a cancer survivor.

I don’t know if there’s any difference but it makes her happy.

I love the looks from the progressive clientele, for folks that worship diversity they seem peeved to experiencing it.

The staff are OK, there’s some purple hair and tats and some short haired women and artsy guys but they’re just making a living and a smile goes a long way.

Why buy from Amazon and Whole Foods. I bet Whole Foods loses money over this when people find out that they are dealing with Amazon and that Amazon supports abortion.
